Gayle Forman's Where She Went
“.....and suddenly she’s there. Really there. A flesh-and-blood person, not a specter” (Forman 52). In the book Where She Went by: Gayle Forman, the sequel to If I Stay is told from Adam’s perspective not Mia’s. When Mia left for Juilliard after the crash, her and Adam tried to keep in touch. After a while, Mia cut him off and essentially broke up with him. Now it’s three years later and Adam is a huge rockstar and Mia is finally getting her career going. Adam is in New York to do some recording and Mia is there playing at Carnegie Hall. Adam finds himself at Carnegie hall listening to her play, and ends up seeing Mia backstage. They end up exploring New York together. After reading Where She Went, the reader can evaluate characters, formulate questions and predict what might happen next.

On account of the novel being in Adam’s perspective, one can evaluate the personality of him. Adam is calm, careless, and thoughtful in Where She Went. Quite opposite

For example, why doesn’t Adam like being a huge star? Wouldn't anyone want that? I believe that Adam is not happy with his new life because, his new life doesn’t have Mia in it. He’s sad and lonely without her. He feels very diffident in this life. “...feels like I’m already all on my lonesome. Me alone in a soundproof booth” (Forman 9). Second, why did Mia breakup with Adam? Why did she just one day stop talking to him? I think she just cut him off one day because, it was hard for her to deal with the past and relive what happened to her. Finally, why is Shooting Star (Adam’s band) against him? Why is the band essentially not together? I think their not together or not friends because Adam was the star of the band. Their were jealous of him and what he had. Overall the reader can produce many questions. Besides evaluating and questioning the novel, the reader can also predict what could happen

Fat, it is a word we all know very well. It is a simple word, but yet the definition is so complex. In today’s society “fat” has an extremely negative connotation. We criticize and fat shame individuals who do not fit the ideal body type. Recently in a video title, “Dear Fat People”, so-called comedian, Nicole Arbour argues that obese people should be fat shamed because they choose to be that way. Logically, if we make them feel bad about themselves, they will surely be motivated to get skinny and get fit. More than two-thirds of Americans are either obese or overweight. Does that mean that more than half the country thought “Hey, I wanna be victimized and called out on a condition I have no control over”?…

When I opened the book I was expecting to be blown away by another bittersweet tale of love. I guess my expectations were too high because in all honesty I was disappointed. I got really frustrated in the beginning when they wouldn’t tell us the whole story and kept us guessing, and I like a mystery as much as the next girl but after a while it got tiring and I just wanted to know what was really going on. I dreaded especially the parts when Bennet kept changing his attitude towards Anna, like one time he liked her and another time he couldn’t stand her, those parts really got to me and I felt like throwing the book across the room because it just kept going round and round and not getting to the point. Of course that made sense later on because he was redoing the moment but those first few chapters were torture and it got me extremely confused at times.…

The positive aspects of this text is that it is really interesting and has a really good and strong story line. This book is not confusing but very easy to understand what is happening and it has many details to help tell the story. The text is very organised and also has flashbacks throughout the text which help you understand and keep you interested and always thinking. We can see this when Evie experiences a flashback in the middle of the book of one of her dreams she had about a specific place, which didn’t make sense to her at the time, but now when she’s at that place, she…
