Whether or not to allow “Gay Marriages” or Same-Sex-Marriages is a question that brings up a lot of theories and debates. It all starts with whether or not people chose to be homosexual or if it is in their genes. In this paper I will touch on a few of these theories and questions. I will try to decide for myself if it should be legal or not. I am riding on the line in between the two and at this very moment unsure if it should be legal or not. Homosexuality is not something that just popped up out of nowhere. It has been around since the time of the Abraham and Lot. God completely wiped out Sodom and Gomorrah, when the local men wanted to have relations with Lot’s guest. Whether it was sexually wrong or just flat out wrong for the men to try to force themselves on Lot’s guest is still debatable, but we have some of the earliest evidence of homosexual behavior
It was also quite prevalent during early Greek culture. One famous Greek ruler who was a homosexual and rather preferred beautiful young boys over beautiful young girls was Alexander the Great. Also from this time period an excerpt from Plutarch Erotikos (Dialogue on Love) says, “The noble lover of beauty engages in love wherever he sees excellence and splendid natural endowment without regard for any difference in physiological detail.” (Ibid. 146). Beauty over gender is the defining characteristic, not so much as to whether it is right or wrong.
In Chinese history homosexuality dates back to16th century B.C. and it was prevalent from dynasty to dynasty until 1740 A.D. when it was then deemed illegal. (China). There isn’t a lot of written history on lesbianism in Chinese history, but it was not out of the ordinary to find Emperors in homosexual relationships.
I have heard it said that being homosexual is a life style that a person chooses. I have also heard it said that it was not a choice they made it was predetermined by

When examining the historical perspectives, one addresses sexual behaviors of past societies' and religion. Although in the past homosexual relationships were common based in Roman and Greek cultures, Christianity denounced those sexual associations and made their belief and intentions clear that this behavior were not to continue. Every other scripture that speaks of homosexuality talks of a male being with another male. Romans 1:26 says "Their women exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural" which shows that the women were once heterosexual because they exchanged natural ways, meaning being with men, to be with women. Romans 1:27 says "and in the same way also the men, giving up natural intercourse with women, were consumed with passion for one another. " If the men gave up women, they too, were once heterosexual. The fact that both men and women gave up the opposite sex and went for same sex does not mean that they were going against their nature.…

Is homosexuality a genetic trait we’re born with, or do we choose this lifestyle? Is it a lack of father and a more involved mother? Why do people think this is abnormal? There are so many questions that people have about homosexuality, their beliefs on it, and why they think it is wrong or right. I have heard so many people say, “It’s Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.” Why does religion have a profound effect on why people believe that homosexuality is wrong; that homosexuals are automatically doomed to hell? Gay people have lived a daunting life for centuries because people think that being homosexual is out of the “norm” and that God created everyone to procreate. God created everyone equal, and he taught us to love one another. People often wonder, and I have personally been told this,” that people choose this lifestyle. The story,” Foundations of the Earth”, provides the reader with a vivid image on religion and homosexuality. People use religion to answer many of life’s problems, especially when it comes to moral topics such as homosexuality; whether it’s right or wrong, negative or positive.…

Gays do not choose to be gay; they don’t wake up one morning and decide that they just want to love the same sex. I am sure that I can speak for everyone when I say that no one would just choose a life of bullying, humiliation and being taunted forever. No human would want to be bullied to the point of where they want to commit suicide. Homosexuals cannot help being attracted to the same sex it is in their nature. Sometimes it can even be hereditary. “Jane Doe left her marriage of 25 years and her two children because of an intense love relationship that developed between her and another woman” (Robert M. Baird & Stuart E. Rosenbaum). Becoming gay can happen over a period of time. People often ask why any homosexual individual would want to marry. Heterosexuals didn’t choose to be straight so why would homosexuals choose to be…

Gay marriage discussions are highly present in our society. Student writer, A.J. Chavez argues that not only should marriage occur between a man and a woman, but also the same sex. He articulates his thoughts on how if the same sex feels the same way a straight couple feels, and then it shouldn’t be a problem. However, our society uses religious views and traditional morals to restrain gay marriage. Apparently, we as a nation are indecisive on this issue today. The student writer states valid arguments and backs it up completely. In Chavez’s essay, he argues his point of view on gay civil unions.…

The Ancient Romans and Greeks have often been viewed as having a moral tolerance of homosexuality. There are some truths to this. But, their idea of same sex relationships was very different from our modern day views of homosexuality. A person's status in society played a significant part in how the Romans and Greeks viewed same sex relationships. Another facet was the role of a sexual partner in a homo sexual relationship. Social class mattered a great deal. The upper classes were more likely to indulge in homosexual acts than the lower class or slaves.…
