Fitzgerald uses many symbols in his novel. These are used to develop characters, evoke emotions, reveal his personal feeling about the Jazz Age, develop a setting, express duality or differences between two groups of people (rich/poor, East/West, new money/old money, etc.), and express Gatsby’s dream.
Using the Color Chart and Symbolism Chart you have been completing while reading the novel, choose a combined total of 4 symbols and colors to explain. Choose at least 2 symbols and at least 1 color. Therefore, you will explore either 3 symbols and 1 color or 2 symbols and 2 colors. Each item will be a body paragraph in your final paper.
