By giving form to people's deep-lying desires and picturing states of being that individuals privately yearns for, advertisers have the best chance of arresting attention and affecting communication. And that is the immediate goal of advertising: to tug at our psychological shirts sleeves amd slow us down long enough for a word or two about whatever is being sold. We glance at a picture of a solitary rancher at work, and "Marlboro" slips into our minds. Advertisers (I'm using the…

Advertising is everywhere we go; we see and hear advertising in magazines, newspapers, billboards, television, radio, internet, and even the classrooms. In the article, Kilbourne describes how advertising supports almost every communication, not by selling products to us but by selling us to the products’ manufacturers. Advertisers compete against each other for the opportunity to deliver their product to the consumers thru the media and companies are investing excessive amounts of money on psychological research in search of specific words and images necessary to capture the attention and money of consumers.…

The two ads/brands that I am comparing today are Solo and Mount Franklin. These two ads are advertising refreshing drinks for people to buy. These brands both manufacture drinks. Solo is a fizzy drink and the brand is associated with the colour yellow. On the other hand, Mount Franklin makes water and mineral water to refresh you but with no sugar. The targeted audiences are everyone because everyone deserves a drink. The contention for the solo ad is, if you work hard you deserve a solo. The intention of the ad is for you to buy it and remember the brand. The contention for the Mount Franklin ad is that the drink is made by nature. The intention of the ad is to buy the water from that company and for you to remember the brand.…

An example is the LeBron James Beats headphones by Dr. Dre commercial on YouTube. It depicts LeBron James working out with the headphones and it also shows how people want to be like their famous athletes, which makes the consumers buy the product. LeBron also makes people think that if they wear the headphones they will make the consumers feel motivated and strong. LeBron James makes a lot of money by advertising for Dr. Dre, Kia, Powerade, and Nike. This is an escape from society to individuals because they want to be like their famous athlete, but it is hard because there are limited spots on a famous sport team. According to Jack, “America’s consumer economy runs on desire, and advertising strokes the engines…” (Solomon 167). In American society, everyone has a strong desire to buy products and especially when the new products come out. Individuals will want to buy all the new products because they are the ones that are trending in society. People are going to want something more for example the Beats headphones because a really good basketball player was advertising…

Advertising has become the economic glue that holds most media industries together. The trick with advertising transforming America into a consumer society has to do somewhat with the psychological aspect. In advertising the “slogan” was developed as a phrase that attempted to sell a product by capturing its essence in words and making the product seem pleasant and helpful. Many times people will buy a product because the packaging and branding catches their eye by the colors or slogans on commercial. After they use the product if it has a good quality they will end up keep buying it and when they see the system of branding they will buy other goods made from that…

The soup commercial appeals too women who are overweight or worried about the weight. The can of soup and captions like light and 80 calories or less suggest it can help with weight or better food choice. The ad’s give us the idea that these things are better choices for us too pick.
