Overview of Malaysian construction industry in Malaysia
The construction industry and the private sector are an important role in generating wealth and improving the quality of life for Malaysians through the translation of Government’s socioeconomic policies into social and economic infrastructures and buildings. The construction industry also provides job opportunities to approximately 800,000 people.
Further, the construction industry creates a multiplier effect to other industries, including manufacturing, financial services, and professional services. Generally construction industry covers the general construction and special trade works. a) General constructions – covers mainly the clearing of land , dredging , excavating and grading of land and other activity associated with buildings, structures, or other types of real property such as bridges, dams, roads.
b) Special trade works - comprises activities of metal works, electrical works, plumbing, sewerage and sanitary works, refrigeration and air-conditioning works, painting works, carpentry, tiling and flooring works and glass works
The construction industry makes up an important part of the Malaysian economy due to the amount of industry linked to it. Hence, the construction industry could be described as a substantial economic driver for Malaysia.

Paving the way for a new chapter in Malaysia’s transportation history, they the Project Delivery Partner (PDP) for the MRT, Mass Rapid Transit project (Sungai Buloh – Kajang Line), the nation’s largest public infrastructure project. o The new 51km MRT line comprising of 31 stations will form the backbone of an efficient and sustainable mass rail transportation system for residents in the Klang Valley.
o They are also the appointed main contractor for the 9.5km underground tunneling portion of MRT’s SBK Line by the Government.
