Gaius's Patients My Experience
Here, Gaius references a study he conducted with his own patients titled “My Experience.” It describes the tests he took in his practice and refers the reader to his article in the San Francisco Chronicle summarizing his findings. Since Bolger identified statements about education, experience, and qualifications of persons providing services as product references, it could be argued that, like Nike, Gaius provided representations of fact regarding his own studies, therefore, he was in a position to verify his “factual” research. However, the test requires that the speaker act with the purpose of maintaining or promoting sales. Nike, 27 Cal. at 961. Unlike Nike, who acted for the purpose of maintaining its sales, Gaius primarily endorsed Prop

Gaius Marius and Lucius Cornelius Sulla are portrayed as being culpable for a generation of turmoil in Roman society, through the period of the second and first century. After the fall of the Gracchi, the aristocracy was refurbished, and the plague of corruption yet again swallowed the senate. The attempts of two patriotic men had been violently relieved and the incompetence of the senatorial oligarchy to put the welfare of its people first, again created an unbalance of the elite. Furthermore with a clear opportunity to weaken the hold of the aristocracy, it must be considered how Gaius Marius came to front as a Popularis and ultimately true successor of the Gracchi; and how he was overthrown by Lucius Sulla in 86BC as the leader of the aristocratic…

In this advertisement, it shows many different professional athletes such as Dwight Howard and Peyton Manning drinking gatorade products to stay hydrated. This is an example of ethos appeal because they are all well respected athletes in their specific sports, so many people trust that if these athletes trust these products to work for them then it could probably help them stay hydrated and maybe even become better athletes or all stars like Peyton and Dwight. It appeals to people who trust Gatorade and different athletic drinks. However, it does not appeal to people who believe that it does not help your athletic ability at all but just increases their sugar levels.…

The “Portrait of Augustus as General from Primaporta” sculpture is a very interesting piece of art. The sculpture got its name from the town where it was found (Kinard, 2008). Augustus appears to be pointing in a general direction as if he is giving a speech. Augustus appears to be very young and looks almost perfect. He has a very content yet stern look upon his face like he is trying to make a point about something. The uniform that Augustus is wearing has intricate and detailed artwork on it. The top half of the uniform has a scene on it and the bottom half looks almost like a skirt. There is a sheet that is wrapped around his hips and hangs over his left hand. He is holding a staff in his right hand and it is very simple and dark in color. He has one leg slightly bent as if he is going to take a step. At the other leg there is a baby that is reaching up to Augustus. The baby appears to be on a dolphin that is coming up out if the base of the statue.…

In 133 BC, Rome faced the problem of depopulation and decreasing military service. This problem arose when most of the undistributed land fell into the hands of the rich who continued to use unlawful methods to take possession of lands near their own or lands that belonged to the poor so that they could have bigger farms. A large number of slaves were employed to work on the lands and for this, the rich continued to gain wealth and power (Appian. R. Hist. Ex. 7). Even though the Romans were worried about the large number of slaves and diminishing number of armies, reformation was not considered as it was not easy or fair to them (Appian R. Hist. Ex. 8). This was until a noble man named Tiberius Sempronius Gracchus became…

The principles of the mass majority would be to believe the biased, often manipulated, information that pummels their every thought. From presidential elections to how many dentists recommend Trident gum, the credibility of anything is always a factor upon the decision making process. MagnaSoles satirize the strength of ethical appeals in advertisement. “…said Dr. Arthur Bluni, the psuedoscientist who developed the product for Massillon-based Integrated Products.” Doctors reflect intelligence, yet the people reading aren’t intelligent enough to comprehend that he is a doctor of a fake science. Without the knowledge of the prefix, pseudo, (which translates to fake), it is nearly impossible to decipher the faulty logic in that statement. “Why should I pay thousands of dollars to have my spine realigned with physical therapy when I can pay $20 for insoles clearly endorsed by an intelligent looking man in a white lab coat?” This faulty logic may be misleading because they never once lie; these people are real doctors, but of a fake science. Diseases affected the majority of Roman citizens. The mobs that developed in Rome because of lack of food contributed to the disease so it spread like wildfire. Someone would sneeze or cough and the germs would travel to other, or many other people around them. The pipes underground that were used to fluids were made out of lead. Now, in modern time, people rarely use anything made out of lead because it is poisonous and can cause serious brain damage. But back in the CE nobody knew lead was poisonous, so a lot of people would get lead poisoning from drinking the infected water, or eating with lead utensils. Malaria was recently found in DNA of the bones of ancient Romans. Malaria is a major disease that is spread by mosquitos. Just in 262…

Defining duty can be said to be a commitment or obligation to someone or something that causes them to pursue a certain action. Duty is split into two parts which consist of dealing with what is the “supreme” good and second, practicing rules which are strictly regulated in all means of daily life. Another classification of duties are duties which are middle or complete. Complete duty is link to being what is “right”. Middle duty is the reasoning behind why has it been done.
