Gabby Douglas also known as The Flying Squirrel. Gabby was born December 31,1995 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She became introduced to gymnastics by doing a cartwheel.
Her family struggle through some hard times not having enough money at times to make ends meet . She is the youngest of 3 older siblings. Her older sister was also a gymnast and a competitive cheerleader. That is where Gabby got her talent from.
Gabby's Life Gabby born Gabrielle Christina Victoria Douglas to her parents Timothy Douglas and Natalie Hawkins. She enrolled in gymnastics at the age of 12 when her oldest sister persuade

her mother to enroll her in it. At the age of eight, Gabby won the

Level 4 all-around gymnastics title at the 2004 Virginia State Championship. During her childhood her oldest sister stop gymnastics when the family did not have much. The middle daughter gave up figure skating and her brother continued playing football do
Douglas could keep on with here gymnastics.
Since Gabby wanted to train for the olympics so bad with a very amazing coach, her mother consented to allow her to stay with a host family in Iowa. There were times when Gabby would call her mom and tell her she wanted to quit gymnastics because she was home sick. Her Mom encouraged her to stay and work hard for her dream, it all paid off for Gabby.
2008-2010
Douglas made her national debut in 2008 at the US Classic in Houston, Texas, where she placed 10th in the all-around rankings.In 2009 she injured her wrist, she was largely unable to compete and missed the 2009 CoverGirl US Classic. Douglas could

not perform her routines or her exercises. Douglas competed at the 2010 Nastia Liukin
Supergirl Cup where she placed 4th in the all-around. In 2010 where she had her elite meeting where she placed third on balance beam, 6th on vault, and 9th all-around in the junior division. At the age of 14 she had to move to Iowa to train with her coach Ling
Chow were she meet 2008 gold medalist Shawn Johnson.
