GCU Reflection Paper
In the first DQ, I stated in my original answer, I will not have concerns but I will have questions. Being new to the education field, I am naturally going to questions on planning, evaluation, IEPs, and/or meeting the needs of the student ID. However, I will rely on my the education I have received from my journey at GCU. I will rely on my current experiences with working with adults with intellectual disabilities on planning, evaluation, ICPs (the adult version of an IEP), and/or meeting their needs. I will rely on the many resources available for special education teachers such as The National Association Special Education Teachers, Council for Exceptional Children, Wrights Law, Center for Parent Information and Resources, and many more.

From watching the films on IEP, I was first able to identify what an IEP was. I’ve discovered that an IEP is a document that is developed for each public school child who needs special education. My thoughts about the information provided in the films helps better understand their child’s process in school with their education. The information in my thoughts is very useful and effective for both the parent and the child. This is also useful because it provides knowledge and understanding to those who aren’t aware of IEP’s and lack certain knowledge to this subject.…

I started a family at a fairly young age that includes my two beautiful daughters who before preschool, were diagnosed with a learning disability at the Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resource System South (FDLRS). I dedicated my life to ensure my daughters were enrolled in the best schools and programs available. I faithfully attended their Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, to support their learning development and education career. During these sessions I was extremely impressed by the collaboration and dedication of everyone involved on the panel. Throughout the process I felt as if I were a part of the IEP team, working towards all of their achievements. I am proud to have assisted with my daughters’ process in becoming…

Myths have been around in all parts of the world for thousands and thousands of years. All religions have their own myths on how the world was created and dealing with the evil spirits in the world and much more. Over the years there were different myths created making society believe in them along with others wanting the historical facts behind these myths. Making many of us develop a sense of fantasy with these myths. For example, the zombie apocalypse. The word Zombie comes from the Haitian and New Orleans voodoo origins. It refers to a human dead body which serves the undead, but what makes people so crazed over it? Is it the mysterious way the illness or “bite” first started? Why is it continually being spoken about on the websites and on the television? Many people have their own interpretation on this. Many of it deals with the preparedness for the end of the world. This ties into the entertainment of peoples minds since people are bored in the world wanting to create a new myth. Let me elaborate on this farther.…

There are many situations in life that bring about strong emotions in me. Some of those situations would be preparing for and taking exams, working over, and situations dealing with my personal relationships. When being faced with a very tough quiz or exam I become very nervous and cannot think very clearly. I tend to shake and my nerves get the best of me. I feel as if I cannot study and it really causes me to have a harder time learning and remembering the material. To manage these emotions I have to really open my mind up and just get by myself and take a few deep breaths. I then am able to focus and read the material and go over it a few times to help me learn it. I feel that if the exam has a lot of material in it I tend to get more nervous than I do with just the short quizzes. This usual pattern is effective for me because I am able to calm down and really get into what I am studying so that the day of the exam I am better prepared.…

For my first reflection paper I chose to use Lorde's “Royals”. I've heard this song numerous times on the radio and on television. Although I heard it so often I never really took the opportunity to really focus and listen to the song. As with most music I come across if its not from an artist or genre I prefer I just don't pay much mind to it. Since beginning this music class I listen to almost all music differently. Just as I did with this particular song now I pay attention to minute details and focus on the musical elements to help me better understand this type of music. This song by Lorde in my opinion kind of invokes a calm, but a steady build up of expectations. The beat along with the rising pitch of vocals does that for me.…

During the past week in our Strategic Management Business class, Learning Team C learned more about one another, and I have no doubt several of us has even learned a great deal about ourselves. First, we were educated about certain topics that made each individual feel comfortable discussing such as growth, stability strategies, and retrenchment strategies, also known as the three grand strategies (Hunger & Wheelen, 2010). We reflected on a variety of topics that made us struggle a bit, such as portfolio analysis and the process of strategic choice. Last, the Team connected what was learned during the former week to one particular field of work; evaluating a current warehouse operation and how the idea of implementing a third party vendor will improve delivery times and inventory management.…

Knowledge is what is known as opposed to what is not known to a human being. It is the product of thinking or thought, which usually employs or works with concepts, like truth, belief, and wisdom. The definition of knowledge should comply with the prerequisites of a definition and should reflect the nature (or further specifics or descriptors) of knowledge. Therefore the best way to define knowledge is to take an analogy, and use it as a model for defining knowledge.…

In "The end of history", Francis Fukuyama stated that the world history had ended after a long period of the cold war between the US and USSR. Indeed, the world is now under the movement of free market and numerical calculations and predictions of economists. The post-cold war era declared a triumph of liberal economy, capitalism, and free market over the stated economy and communism. These movements and events were initiated by the U.S. This victory, along with American influence in democracy, have shaped the significant role of the U.S around the world.…
