Do people need to look to the past or the future when making decisions? Plan and write an essay in which you develop your point of view on this issue. Support your position with reasoning and examples taken from your reading, studies, experience, or observations. Do people need to look to the past or the future when making decisions? Today there are many obstacles to success, and the decisions you make, whether you succeed or not. Now the things we have done on the past will influence what people think about us, influence the actions that people have on us. However, when we are faced with making a decision nowadays, we need to be looking how this going to affect us tomorrow, next month ,next year and How will my friends and family be affected on that decision I’m making And what are the consequences to this decision that I’m about to make. That’s why I believe that people must look to the future when about to make a decision.
Looking to the future is more likely to help you make a good decision because it makes you look at what will happen as a result of a decision with a clear head. If you look to the past, your judgment might be clouded with what did happen without understanding that it simply is what did happen, and it probably won’t happen again, but the decision you make will effect what will happen. The big picture is always important here because every small decision that a person makes can have a huge effect on what the future will be like. You

At multiple points in life, people are faced with judgments ranging in difficulty and significance. And every decision could be affected by outside influences which could persuade people to make a choice. Sometimes, one is faced with the choice of which juice to drink in the morning, a very minute decision to make. There are other, more substantial decisions like choosing which college to attend or whether or not it is the right time to buy a home. Depending on the size of the decision and influence, everything that happens in one’s life could be crucial moments that determine the final outcome of one’s life. This was seen in Rudolfo Anaya’s Bless Me, Ultima and Bernard Malamud’s The Natural. Both author’s used the main characters to show that one’s future is determined by the choices made throughout life, and the outside influences that guide the choices. Anaya and Malamud use other’s expectations, other’s guidance, and decisions made as significant points that help determine the outcome of the main character’s future.…

How many of you would have considered at least one of those questions before, I believe most of you would have. Predicting the future is important for two reasons; first we need to start to think about what kind of future we would like for ourselves and to pass on to the next generation, and then we need to know what decisions we need to make today that will give the best result in the future.…

Rationality and reasonability are inseparable from decisions (Sibley; 1953). Every decision an individual makes is made, perhaps unconsciously, in the belief that it is rational and reasonable in their current environment as we would not make them otherwise. Their rationality and reasonability comes under scrutiny from third parties, after the decision has been made with the benefit of hindsight (Sibley; 1953). The opinions I express on every case study that follows is of course one with hindsight, it is impossible for me to put myself in exactly the same situation as the individual who made the decision due to different life experiences in the short (on the day) and long (that month or the rest of his/her life) term. We believe there is a rational explanation for any decision’s success of or failure (Mankiw & Taylor; 2006). As we analyse the outcome of a decision, we are uncomfortable unless we can find solid evidence to explain what happened. We have difficulty in accepting the chaos of life as an answer (Hoffer; 1985).…

At some point or another in adulthood we are all forced to make decisions that may alter or effect the way we live our lives. Sometimes these decisions are positive other times they are negative. The chance of having a better future relies on listening to other people’s experiences rather than imagining about the mere future that is not secure. Listening has some benefits such as, reducing the probability of making the same mistakes from the past and making better choices. Hindsight bias occurs as the result of an individual’s inability to remember the feeling of uncertainty that they had before an event. Hindsight Bias doesn’t refer to all increases in the probabilities a individual assigns to an event when they reflect on it. Hindsight bias occurs when new knowledge of an event is gained and is accompanied by a detail that the new information of an outcome has influenced any judgement (Hawkins & Hastie, 1990). Another difficulty in determining hindsight bias is that both hindsight tendencies and adaptive learning are produced at the same time by multiple cognitive responses that are elected by feedback from any judgment task (Blank, Fischer, & Erdfelder,…

Today there are many obstacles to success, and the decisions you make, along with a little bit of luck will greatly influence whether you succeed or not and the magnitude of this success. Now the things we have done on the past will influence what people think about us, influence the actions that people have on us, and is significant in the situations you will be put in.
