In today’s classroom the issue of full inclusion has created quite a debate. The principal of the least restrictive environment (LRE) mandates that students with special needs have the opportunity to be educated with non-disabled peers to the greatest extent possible. In a fully inclusive classroom, students with disabilities are in the general education classrooms and provided services and supports appropriate to their specific needs. Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) can be defined as a group of developmental disabilities that can cause significant social, communication, and behavioral challenges.
