They play was quite an interesting play with its use of comedy and tragedy. The actors did a terrific job on portraying the characters. The set was small so it was much easier to see their reactions. The introduction to the play was pretty unique with those people in tight pants and glitter all over everybody in the lobby. They never broke character no matter what went on in the lobby. Later they used as prompts on stage which was pretty interesting because at times I was so into the play I forgot they were there acting as a car or a door. Although Claire was the main character, the actor who played Millet had the best acting on stage. They way he switch between the two personality was amazing and hilarious. He portrayed the character really well and had me believing for a bit that he actually had a dual personality. His entrance on to the stage in every scene was perfect, every time he can on he was really enthusiastic and his enthusiasm did not fluctuate too much in the play, even though he was not playing one but two characters. The actress who played Claire portrayed the character well. From the beginning to the end she really captured the characters and her emotions. When she first entered on stage I was confused of what was going as she was walking aimlessly across the stage but later realized that was the whole point. She wanted the audience to believe she was confused and lost; and she did. I notice her break the fourth wall every now and then as she looked into the audience. I suppose it was part of the scrip to interact with the audience because she mostly did it when she was on the side doing random things with the people in tight pants. Her entrances where perfect every time, even though the scenes where being switched off between her and Richard in the car, she never seen to loose focus. You could clearly see every expression on her face which made it more realistic to the audience. The actor who played Richard could have done a

I enjoyed the play because the story and music is very interesting, unique and entertaining. I have seen the play before in Las Vegas and I must say that the cast in Las Vegas was much better than the one I saw on Thursday night. The reason is because it went more in-depth with the story and also played every single hit that the band had made. Also, the singers in Las Vegas were much more professional and sounded better because the actor portraying Frankie Valli did not have such a high pitched voice as the one in Curran Theatre. My favorite composition from the band was Beggin because the tempo and beat was so fast-paced and it was impressive how the band had bright stage lights and fascinating dance moves. The music contained catchy rhythms and beats. Some notes would stretch out to make a nice vocal sound and some were just quick beats from the drums. The staging was very flashy because they had different stage lights with different colors for each part of the story. The costumes were very well suited. They actors wore fancy suits and some had a fancy top hot to match their costume. I thought the the whole play went fairly well and the audience seemed to really enjoy it. The music was pleasant and relaxing, the actors were spot on with no mistakes during the show and the crowd was very enthusiastic. The only part I had a slight…

In my opinion, the most successful aspect in this play was the actresses, not just because they were good, but rather because they were incredibly believable. I did not feel that I was watching actors on the stage, rather that I was watching the lives of the six individuals unfold. They became their characters. A perfect example of this can be seen when Sabrina Hyman, who was playing the part of Truvy, was decorating the salon for Christmas and had to improv. While placing tinsel on the couch she was unable to keep it on the desired spot, because it kept falling off of the arm. Initially when she realized that the tinsel was not staying in its place she did not panic, as one would have thought. Instead she simply tried again, and then even a third time without showing any signs of a problem, she had to finally walk away without properly placing the tinsel where it should have been. This quick change in events did not throw her off in the least; she played it off like nothing was wrong. She played it off, as Truvy Jones would have in real life. Although I did feel that the acting in the play was truly amazing I did have two problems, and a couple of instances where I was given a…

All the elements in the show went perfectly with the actors, the sets, and the lighting. The whole stage was used and the performers moved around throughout the entire stage. The pace of the production seemed to be right. I thought it might have dragged out a little but picked up in the secound act.…

Good thing that the play had decent lighting, that way the audience was able to see the perfectly fitting costumes. Everyone was mostly dressed up and looking nice to match the luxury theme. I liked everything about the costumes, but I didn’t get why the angel costume was red. It would have made more sense to be in white, but did not make much of a difference.…

    Middletown: Play Review

The play was very unique and different from any other play I have ever seen. It was very melodramatic and the characters discussed issues most characters in other plays would never touch. They spoke very truthfully to each other about issues such as anxiety, loneliness and other things that most people keep to themselves. They often mentioned all the mundane tasks they would do throughout the years to keep themselves occupied. They explained the daily miracles that everyone in the world takes for granted. At one point in the storyline, an astronaut who lived in Middletown, told a story about the town drunk and how he found what he thought was a meteor but, it was just a common sedimentary rock. He then explained how the man was very disappointed that it was not a meteor, yet that he should have been grateful for the wonders of such a perfect world able to create something. Not only was the plot of the play very unique and creative, the way the play was set up was interesting and new to me. Every play or musical I have ever been to, you sit in an auditorium and just watch the events unfold. This play had you apart of the plot and stage, the actors would interact with the audience and and speak directly to us. They kept the actors in the set very close to the audience, almost as if they were trying to make us even more uncomfortable with the closeness of the actors in the story. The…

Was the actors’ acting extraordinary or was it mediocre? The actors’ acting skills were mediocre. My favorite actor was Amber Riley, Addaperle. Amber Riley was my favorite actor, because she stood out the most and how she played the role of the good witch of the north. Her voice was strong,…

The director Peter Vann did a wounderful job in directing the play. He made sure that it felt as if the characters were actually children instead of adults. They played it well putting their self in a childs place. Each character acted out their lines perfectly. If any mistakes were made I didn't notice. Their tone and body language went well with their emotins and expressions that they had to act out. Having a little knowledge about Junie B, I would have never expected for her to buy May a gift or for them to get a long in the play. Brooke Bryant did a great interpetation of Junie B. Her voiced matched her personality of a snooty, selfish girl that thinks she knows it all. I think that Brooke Bryant and Cori Laemmel held their chacter of the girls very well. There were parts of the play whene they had to do or say funny things and they did it without laughing and remained in character. Brooke Bryant broke the forth wall in a scene where she was in the spot light talking to her self. But I think that it was part of the play for her to do that. Maybe to get the audience involved or just to make contact with the children to…

The acting the performance was delightful. As a fan of both Catherine Tate and David Tennant, I believe you could not have a better match to play Beatrice and Benedick. Tennant’s scottish portrayal of Benedick is wonderful and absolutely hilarious. He perfectly captures the character in both the most comical and most serious moments. Tennant managed to take a character whom I had previously been less than fond of and make him both very enjoyable and surprisingly likable. Tate plays a wonderful Beatrice, her comedic moments are priceless and her serious moments were wonderfully acted.. However, she misses the mark somewhat in Beatrice’s characterization as a woman who covers her sadness with humor. Probably the best element of the performance was the chemistry between Tate and Tennant. The constant banter and bickering flows and seems incredibly natural.…

Casting was done very well, the director picked actors who weren’t too old or too young. The actors fit their roles nicely. The actors used the space of the stage they weren’t in one spot the whole time they moved around so that they used the stage space efficiently. The actors could be seen in every direction from the audience. The cast worked together as an ensemble and they all seemed to have the same goals and acting abilities. I thought the directorial interpretation was interesting and that it served the script…

The productions, being the most important part of the play was put together so perfectly that even if there was a mistake or something going wrong, nothing was obvious. The actors really drew my attention by the way they were so into their roles. It was almost like they were not playing a role, but it was them in that life. The children, Jane and Michael were so fascinating because even though they are young they seemed as if they have been acting for years. I thought that their performance was even better than the adults. Having such big roles, really showed their characteristics and talent. As for Mary Poppins, she was by far my favorite. She took control of the stage and made it clear that she was the main attraction.…

Technically, one of the things that really stuck out to me was timing. I believe one of the main reasons why the production deserved a standing ovation was because everything seemed to melt together. Lighting was surprisingly precise. There was not one moment where I felt that the lighting could have been darker or lighter in any scene. It came right on when necessary, especially the opening scene with the murder of the maid. Of course, we can’t mention lighting without also talking about sound. Sound was another component that was really well played out. The actor’s actions matched the sounds perfectly, which made the play seem even more engaging and real. The part where Roger, played by Michael Portugal, was turning the radio on, the tune played. At that moment, it sounded so surreal, I was even confused for a second. Music and lightening were two components that highlighted the play.…

One of the people that stood out particularly for me was Jean-Paul, playing the father of Ian Huntley. Showing emotional depth by explaining exactly how he felt, he was able to compare Ian’s character/personality to how he was before at childhood. In comparison with my own character; a parent of the classmate of the victims, I feel there was a lot more detail and precision to what he was doing.…
