Drinking and Driving
Drinking and driving is one of the most dangerous problems, which causes to the injury and the death. Although drinking and driving is prevented, the percentage of crashes has been still high in recent years. Almost the deaths happen to young people because they usually get drunk and lose their control after they enjoy drinking alcohol from time to time. Drinking and driving is considered a serious crime because it endangers human life, harms innocent victims, and makes drunk drivers not realize what they are doing. First, drinking and driving endangers human life. Regardless of the circumstances, alcohol is a direct cause that leads to have a slow reaction of the drivers from 10 to 30 percent. Besides that, it also reduces vision and the ability to control. Furthermore, alcohol affects directly the sight and causes a person to estimate the distance of objects differently than from reality, leading to increase the level of accidents. With drinking and driving is the number one killer of human life, the law must have strict punishments to prevent people from stopping drinking and driving. Second, drinking and driving also harms thousands of innocent victims in crashes. Each year, people die in the world almost from causes alcohol- related. Unfortunately, many deaths are not the drunk drivers, those are the innocent bystanders. According to the news that I read “In 2004 alone, thirty-nine percent of traffic deaths in the United States were alcohol related. In one year, 16, 694 people were killed. Of the 16,694 people who were killed, many were innocent passengers, pedestrians, and sober drivers.” It’s a ridiculously horrible amount. The best way to end the drunk driver epidemic is the law must be enacted to ban alcohol production and consumption.
