fraternity
This paper is based on my own idea to pursuit my curiousness to the organization of a fraternity/sorority. I first made this paper by starting on writing the basic things that I’ve already knew about the fraternity/sorority, I’ve gathered that idea in my social surroundings. I have friends and relatives that are joined in a fraternity that have experiences and ideas about the fraternity/sorority, I’ve asked them first. Letting them tell me the basic things in the fraternity/sorority that I can put on my research paper. Some ideas that I put in my paper are gathered from several friends. Those ideas helped me to know more about fraternity/sorority and enhance my paper. The next though and ideas that I’ve wrote down in my paper are gathered from the internet, I read and self studied those important and legit ideas on a fraternity/sorority. I’ve researched all the ideas that I may use as a ice breaker in my paper and make it more interesting. And foremost, I put ideas that came from my own instinctive mind that is also can be apply to my papers. For the last part of my paper of my paper. I put an idea that came from the major source, or also known as the books, I’ve researched books on the library that have ideas about my research paper. And can also help me to put the books name to become as my source. I’ve finished it on time by hardly studying it and putting some extra ideas that can be more interesting way, by putting the positive and negative way and about the fraternity/sorority to make my research paper balance and interesting to read.

What we would be specifically task with is going and spending time with kids in an underserved area; playing sports with them and just fellowshipping with them. The reading Sister Act, by Evan Wrigth, is a narrative showing the different points of views and ideals students have integrated about sororities and fraternities, mostly the perspective of female college students. This story takes place in Ohio State Columbus, during the 1950s and 60s. With a large population of 35,000 undergrads, as it is said in the reading, commonly college students tend to join groups to integrate themselves in a social community, the typical American groups where you get drunk and forget about all of your responsibilities for a night to wake up the next day regretting everything. These particular organizations tend to put high standards in their members and represent a high and recognized status as well, "Sorority members…

Tevin Hamilton August 25, 2013 Personal Bio My name is Tevin Hamilton. I am from Topeka, Kansas. This semester I will attend KU for my first semester of my sophomore year. I attended Barton County Community College on a tennis scholarship last year. Last year should have been a great opportunity for me to improve my game as well as improve my grades in the classroom. Unfortunately, my coach was reprimanded for athletic misconduct; he would skip my men's practice after personally instructing every girl on our women's tennis team, which I thought highly discriminated my teammates and I. Honestly, I never thought I would come to the University of Kansas or even think about joining a fraternity. However, after talking with some of the brothers in Sigma Pi I feel like I would fit right in. Sigma Pi seems like a really great opportunity to not only socialize and enjoy my college experience here at KU, but also join a brotherhood, make friends I will have for the rest of my life, and become a part of something very few people have the opportunity to do.…

When one hears the words “sorority” or “fraternity,” what comes to mind? A big house, nice clothes, or even pillow fights? Some sororities may have these things, but that is not what they are about. Sororities and fraternities have been sweeping over college campuses for years and are beginning to take over even more campuses. Katie Lambert, who wrote the article How Sororities Work, stated, “For many, a sorority or fraternity can be a great way to make lasting friendships, build a smaller community within a university setting, and find opportunities for leadership and service.”…

Most people do not have the ability to think of college without thinking of some sort of Greek life organization. Whether that thought is negative or positive may vary, but it is rare to think of any time in a college of any sort without thinking of a fraternity or a sorority at all. This is to be expected because most of these groups have somewhat dominated their campuses for hundreds of years, or since their particular chapters were formed. Supporters of Greek life, especially of fraternities, argue that being involved in Greek life organizations encourages brotherhood, the development of leadership skills, and the participation in philanthropic organizations throughout the students’ collegiate career.…

Being a member of a sorority or fraternity can negatively impact your grades. Students that are members of a greek organization spend their average week going out more than once or twice, versus a student not associated with a greek house. A study done at Georgia College and State University by students doing a project having to do with finding the correlation between being a greek member and their GPA showed that, “Students not in a sorority or fraternity go out on an average 1 to 2 nights a week”, while students that are affiliated in a greek house “...go out on an average 3 to 4 nights a week” (Salleras). Although this study can’t prove that students would rather stay in and study it still shows that being a member of a sorority of…
