Forensic Science Personal Statement

I have watched television shows such as Law and Order and Dexter that have intrigued me because of the forensic work performed in these types of shows. Especially after watching the Dexter series, I began to look more seriously into forensic science careers. The forensic scientist positions caught my attention because these scientists analyze such things as hair, blood, and drug samples gathered from crime scenes. This important analysis helps police officers piece together how a crime is committed and who is involved. Knowing that I could play a part in solving a crime would give me great satisfaction. As I was performing this research, I realized this is the career field I would like to pursue because of what is involved in this field of work.
After reading what the Stevenson University online program has to offer and the possible job opportunities, I decided I would like to pursue a Master of Science in Forensic Science (Biology track). This degree would complement my undergraduate degree in biology, as well as my minors in chemistry and criminology. I feel this program would give me a well-rounded
I have read many job ads for forensic scientists, but most of them require knowledge and training that I do not yet have. After completing this program, I will have a great deal of knowledge and training in this field that will help me in starting a successful forensic science career. I live in a community where there are high drug and crime rates. I have always taken my education seriously because I never wanted to go down the wrong path. Continuing my education will help me help others in my community. Being able to play a part in solving crimes in my community or surrounding communities is very important to me because my goal has always been to pursue a career in which I would be helping
