ENTRY OF FOREIGN UNIVERSITIES AND THEIR IMPACT ON THE INDIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM

ABSTRACT The paper submitted deals with all the aspects which will affect the Indian Education System if the doors to foreign Universities are being opened. It has been attempted to answer the questions raised whether opening of centers by foreign universities deteriorate or uplift the standards of higher education in India. A thorough in-depth evaluation of the present state of affairs of the higher education in India has been done and the opinion of the author has been formulated in the given paper. It has also been suggested that planning must be done in order to cater to the needs of the consumers of higher education - the students. Towards the end the summation from the author’s side;; after analyzing the pros and cons;; of foreign universities entering our country is that it will require high degree of dexterity and sophistication, strict discipline, high levels of commitment and an equally high level of motivation from the government agencies to achieve the desired objectives in the realm of higher education. Few suggestions to control the working of foreign universities have been highlighted in the paper. All the pros and cons of opening the door to foreign Universities have been looked into the details of the paper. It has been concluded that the entry of foreign universities in India will definitely raise the overall standard of education system in India. Every coin has two faces, so the aspect discussed here also has its own advantages as well as disadvantages. Good things can not be kept away just because of the fear of entrance of bad things. There is no flower without a thorn. To remove all the bad aspects an appeal of

    Indian Education system lacks modernization. It still follows the age-old technique of imparting education. The Indian education system puts emphasis on bookish knowledge rather than practical knowledge. Thus students lack in practical knowledge of the subjects.
