What is force? Force is a push or pull upon an object resulting from the object’s interaction with another object. There are two types of force, contact forces, and forces resulting from action-at-a-distance. A contact force can be frictional forces, normal forces, applied forces, and air resistant forces. The formula for contact force is F = ma. This type of force occurs when two objects are contacting each other physically. If you kick a ball or push a bicycle, you are there is contact force acting on the objects. Action-at-a-distance forces are gravitational forces, magnetic forces, and electrical forces. Motion is any movement or change in position or time. Whether the movement is fast or slow, it is still in motion. There is always continuous movement in our lives, even when we think there isn’t. This is because the Earth is constantly moving around the sun, and because we are on the earth, we are moving, too. Motion has everything to do with force. Without force, there would be no movement. This is because force is needed to act upon an object to get it into motion. Movement is measured by velocity and speed. This can be miles per hour or even lightyears. Both measure the motion of something. There are also different types of motion. The first is simple movements. An example of a simple movement would be something moving in a straight line or two objects moving towards each other in a straight line. The second type of movement is a complex movement. This type of movement might be something moving at a curve or at an angle. An example of this would be throwing a ball to your …show more content…

You can calculate the momentum of an object by multiplying the mass of an object by its velocity. Newton’s first law applies to momentum. A moving object will stay in motion unless an outside source interferes with it, and this is the same with momentum. The momentum of an object will not change unless it is interfered by an outside object or force. An example of an object with a lot of momentum would be a bullet. This is because it is a small object with a lot of momentum, therefore, it is hard to stop What is impulse? Impulse is any change in momentum. This change would result in a force acting against the momentum for any period of time. An example of impulse would be any two objects colliding, perhaps a bullet and a wall.
