Food Intake – 1 Day
SCI/220

The purpose of this assignment is to track and display the food choices we make and the way we eat affects our lifestyle and health. This paper address’ my personal food intake for 1 day. Next I will compare my food choices with my WileyPlus profile and determine whether I am maintaining healthy eating habits. I already know I will need to modify my eating habits along with exercising to complete a lifestyle change.
One-day food intake My one day food intake is a typical daily intake on any given or an average day for me. Before taking this class I had thought about changing my health and food habits but never followed through on any plan. At first iProfile was frightening but once the facts started to flow and information was displayed, I began to welcome the results. The biggest eye opener was that so many foods have so many types of nutrients in them and after looking at my results for one-day it is very apparent for an individual to have a variety of food in their diet. Listed below are the results of my one day food intake:

Upon enrolling in a Human Nutrition class the professor assigned an individual assignment to assess my eating habits through iprofile factoring my weight, height, age, meals, and daily activities. The assessment evaluates three days of eating breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. The nutrients assessed were the lipids, proteins, and carbohydrates to access my positives and negatives about healthy eating. I entered my daily intake for three days and what a discovery. I revealed that my protein intake was excellent 70%, my lipids were high by 11%, and my carbohydrates were 80% below the recommended DRI. The results shocked me because I am not a regular meat eater, but my protein intake was in excellent. The carbohydrates did surprise me at all because I love eating vegetables, sweets, and I consume very little to none to be honest. Because I am fully aware that I need to make a change to avoid further issues, here are some ways that I intend to improve my carbohydrates. First I will eat more vegetables consuming the recommended amount two cups per day, ensuring that the vegetables are different every week.…

My results from my 3 day recall shocked me slightly, because I didn’t realize how little I ate, but how unhealthy many of my food choices were. I wasn’t in range with my calorie intake for the 3 days. My calorie intake was over 1500, and my recommended calorie intake was a little over 1200. The foods I ate that consisted of the most calories were foods from fast food restaurants, mainly being McDonalds, and foods that were full of carbs. I generally eat a lot of fast food during the week because my schedule is so hectic and nonstop, I don’t have time to indulge in anything else. My calorie intake was higher on Sunday and Tuesday than it was on Monday. My overall calorie intake on Monday was 100.1, Tuesday it was 2312.7 and on Sunday 1258.7. I was a little surprised to see that my calorie intake on Monday was lower than on Sunday, but after reviewing the foods I consumed, it made sense. Out of the 3 days, Monday was the day I consumed the most vegetables, green tea, and water. I typically drink a lot of water and green tea every day, so that wasn’t a surprise, but according to my diet analysis my vegetable…
