Food Intake - 3 Days

For three days I had an assignment to do regarding my three day food intake on which I had to eat fast foods and record what my results were. I chose ChooseMyPlate.gov to document my food intakes, and it was very interesting to see what my report had revealed from my three days of eating.
The foods that provided me with protein were chicken strips, chicken breast, a sausage link, chocolate chip cookies, macaroon cookies, cheeseburger, and baked fish. The foods that provided me with carbohydrates was bread from the cheeseburger, the coated breading on my chicken strips, penne pasta, broccoli, 2% milk, chocolate chip

My protein target was 46 grams, and the first and third day shows that I went over what I was supposed to eat, but the second day I was under the target amount. My lipid target was between 20%-35%, and again the first and third day indicates that I went over the target amount. The second day shows that I was in the range for the amount of lipids needed. Since my carbohydrates and proteins were outside of the range, I probably would have removed the five pieces of chicken strips, the five chocolate chip cookies, the four macaroon …show more content…
On the third day I ate a cheeseburger with tomatoes and mayonnaise on a bun, one medium bag of French fries, one cup of broccoli, and one fish with vegetable oil on it. The trends in my food choices that might affect my fiber intake shows that I did not eat a lot of fruit and vegetables. I am usually eating a lot of fried and greasy foods, and I also have a habit of drinking a lot of soda. The changes I would make would be to eat more vegetables like green beans, and eating more fruits like oranges. Sometimes I eat bean dishes but not often, but when I do it usually would be a bowl of

Riley Murray Health 1 Live Oct. 28, 2012 Nutrition Analysis/Change Paper Based on the Nutrients Report I created for my “Average Eaten” diet what I normally eat seems to be pretty healthy. I work at a Subway full time so I eat that a LOT which is a fairly healthy place to eat. I try to stay away from junk food and I don’t eat in large portions so I’m a healthy weight for my age and height. However, after analyzing all the food I ate in three days I realized apparently just eating fairly healthy and in moderation isn’t enough. You also have to pay attention to the nutrients you’re ingesting like how much protein or fiber is in your diet and make sure you’re eating enough of it. All the while also making sure you do not eat too much in carbohydrates or fats in the process. My report says that I should eat around 130 g of carbohydrates a day and on average I eat 138 so my status is okay, but I’m sure I don’t eat the same amount every day depending on what I decide to eat. Sometimes I do eat some unhealthy food high in carbohydrates especially during the holidays! So I’ll be sure to be careful not to eat foods like that in excess. My target for dietary fiber should’ve been around 25 g and my average eaten fiber was 8g. So I’m pretty far under where I need to be in that area, which doesn’t surprise me because I know I don’t eat a lot of food that is high in fiber because it doesn’t taste that great. So in the future I will be focusing more on foods that have a good amount of fiber in them and add more of those to my normal diet. I found that a lot of berries are high in fiber content and I love fruits like raspberries and strawberries so it will be easy to add more of those type of foods to my diet. For my target total fats I am in a good range too. It should be about 20-35% calories and my average percent was 31% calories. I do try to stay away from too many fatty foods because I know how bad they are for your health so I’m glad my diet shows that I eat an…

The first nutritional intake I looked at was what kind of protein I ate, and if I went over the amount required. The bulk of my protein for the three days came from chicken, hamburger, and pork. Accept for the first day which was 80% of protein required, I went over the daily intake requirement. Nelson (2013), "In fact, medical research shows that consuming too much protein -- more than 30% of your total daily caloric intake -- could actually harm your body, says protein expert Gail Butterfield, PhD, RD, director of Nutrition Studies at the Palo Alto Veterans' Administration Medical Center and nutrition lecturer at Stanford University.” (para. 2). As I was over the standard amount of protein on two of the three days, some things I can cut to get within range would be to eat only one…

I found my caloric intake to be lower than the recommended 2,200 calories per day. For D1, I had 1720 total calories and for D2 I had 1825 total calories. I found my fat percentage to be a little high at 44% on D1, but it was only 28% on D2. The norm is 25-30%. My protein intake should be 10-15%, and on D1 was 14%, but on D2 was 23%. As for carbohydrate intake, the norm is 50-60%. My intake was a little low, being 42% on D1, and 49% on D2. This shows that I need to eat more carbohydrates and less fats. Also my overall caloric intake should be higher. Improvement could be made in my hydration also. I drank 20 oz. of water per day, but this is not enough.…
