Food In Ancient Rome And The Mediterranean Triad
The Roman Empire was one of the most flourishing empires in ancient times. The food in Ancient Rome was very complex and each meal was prepared in different ways and with different ingredients according to your social standing. They used a variety of spices and always included wine. Dinner was the most important meal of the day, which would sometimes consist of flourishing parties to impress their guests. Despite the wide range of ingredients at this time, the Ancient Roman’s usually followed the Mediterranean Triad, which consisted of barley, wine, and olive oil. The rich had more of an exotic cuisine as opposed to the poor. Unlike the food in Ancient Rome, the kitchen, utensils, and cookware used during this time was the same. In closing,
