Food and Diet
Nutrition Intake Second Part:

I choose the Low- Sodium Nutrition Diet Plant, because it is one of the most recommended nutritional foods sources to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases, and strokes. Sodium cannot be found in many foods that are served at fast food in many different places. Our body balance sodium control foods that are very high in salt, some people do not mind to eat food with a lot of salt, but for some others who are at risk of getting high blood pressure or others heart diseases, is very danger to consume food with high sodium concentration. Some of the food that I avoid when I was doing the 7-day meal plan was the amount of sat that I was adding to the food that I was cooking, and I notice a big change through my entire body when I use some of the condiment recommended in the low- sodium nutritional therapy. Some of the food recommended the, I really enjoy was the vegetable and fruit serving, all unsalted fresh frozen or canned tomato, or vegetable juice, canned without salt. In addition, some of the other food serving that I really enjoy was bread and cereals, because they do not have sodium, and do not need to be counted in the five serving per-day. One of the problem the I encounter, was went I went to the super- market to choose what kind of food were low- sodium, like beans, bread and also some of the condiment that I was using. Also another problem the, I encounter was in the taste of the food, because since I always cook with regular condiments and know, I am using low- sodium it is a big difference in taste. For problem number one, my goal is to continue using low- sodium condiment to prepare my food, because that is going to help with the safe of my family, perhaps on preventing some of the cardiovascular system diseases. It was my pleasure to follow the recommended low- sodium nutritional therapy, from now on I will use those ingredients to cook, because that will help me to keep my family healthy, and if I can

How does your diet compare to the recommendations you received from the Food Guide Pyramid? I just recently decided that I was going to start eating healthier. I am not on a diet! That is just too much stress. However, I have made quite a bit of progress with changing how I eat. The recommendation that I got were not that off of what I’m trying to accomplish. I need to eat more fruit and vegetables. I have been doing well with the grain and fiber intake. I need to do better with my sodium intake, which is still a little high, but is much lower than what I used to consume.…

The three most important points to include in a public nutrition program are (a) the relationship between food choices and chronic disease such as high blood pressure (high salt intake), high lipids (high fat intake), obesity/diabetes (high sugar/carb intake/low activity) and much more. Educating the public on how to use natural herbs/ seasonings, or salt substitute, reading labels for nutritional contents and ingredients and eating low carb food are all vital factors to know. I enjoyed the food plan because I thought let me just make a change for my diet for 2 days and see if I will enjoy these new recipes. I never really use to like mashed potatoes and I think it’s because I use to have it with a different sauce so I thought the taste would be odd but then I tried it with gravy and it was my first time trying gravy it wasn’t actually that bad, I also added sweet corn, peas, broccoli, brussell sprouts and cube carrots which was very healthy. I also noticed that my skin is also improving very well from eczema, I been drinking plenty water, been eating lots of fruits and I’ve been eating more bananas as it improves the skin as well and potatoes.…

Another way to improve my diet I have to have more calcium, and potassium. Calcium is in milk, and other dairy products and helps your bones grow and stay strong. Potassium is found in fish, fruits and vegetables and is important to have in your diet especially in relation to sodium, because it aids in muscle, blood pressure and emotional well being. I should also consume higher magnesium foods such as green vegetables and nuts. Magnesium helps maintain normal muscle and nerve function, keeps heart rhythm steadily, supports a healthy immune system, helps bones strong, regulates blood sugar levels, and promotes blood pressure.…

They are now trying to receive profit from the production itself. They are seeking for for ways to increase the profit obtained during the processing of the food and they have found a way. They have decided to add harmful substances to the production of the food such as antibiotics, additives, and large amount of salt. Although antibiotics help get rid of the viruses at the moment to secure more quantities of healthy food, it creates resistant infections that could be deadly due to the large amount of immunities that they have developed throughout the years of treatment. “The more a particular germ is exposed to antibiotics, the more rapidly it can develop resistance”(Sarah Halzack). Salt and additives are used to enhance the flavor of the food, but at the same time it causes people to be more sustainable to acquiring high-blood pressure, obesity, and even cancer. “Researchers agree that hypertension (high blood pressure) is rare in societies that consume a low-salt diet and more common among people who eat a lot of salt”(Anita Elash). This just comes to show how far Americans have gone to be able to eat such unhealthy amount of salt. Other substances that are also found are. “BHA or BHT. Ingredients like these are added to prohibit foods with oils from going rancid, thereby increasing shelf life” (Cindy Jones Shoeman)…

    Behavior Change

Keeping up a behavior can be hard, “the motivation must come from within.” For the past 23 days I have been striving to change and succeed, by the 22nd of October, in two specific nutritional behavior goals. One of them was to intake at least 30 grams of fiber on weekdays and at least 25 grams on weekends. The other was to reduce my sodium intake by a quarter, on weekdays, of what it was per day and reduce it by an eighth on weekends. This preparation all started about a week before my 23 days of transformation. In the three beginning days I tracked my diet and found that my low fiber and high sodium consumptions were eye-opening problems. My average fiber intake per day rested at 21.18g, which was significantly lower than my goal of 38g per day. As this issue arose so did my awareness that multiple aspects of my health were at risk. For example, my low fiber intake could place me in danger of developing heart disease. Fiber nutrients reduce the chance of disease like heart disease, diabetes, and many other frightful illnesses. In addition, foods that consist of fiber provide a feeling of fullness without additional calories being added to a diet. As for my Sodium intake, I was recommended a target of 1500mg a day but I was actually devouring a skyrocketing 3959.4mg a day. Without thinking twice I knew I had to make significant behavior changes. Concerning my towering sodium intake, I found that high sodium consumption makes the body preserve more water, which can raise the blood volume and, in turn, increase blood pressure. Considering my high blood pressure it would be essential and crucial to lower my sodium intake. Fortunately, the data collected demonstrated that the amount of sodium I have been taking in each day has been playing a role in my elevated blood pressure. After reviewing this data and conducting research on these two nutrients I felt very serious about changing my dieting…
