Victoria like me has an indescribable love for the art of dance. In rehearsal one day she found herself extremely dizzy after a turn combination and fell to the floor. Since this wasn’t a normal dizzy she went to have an MRI. It was found that she had a brain tumor. Long story short she recovered but only because she fought hard and didn’t give up. She could have easily given up but instead she got started by getting her life back. She looked up instead of down and now I look up to her.
Officer Notes: The most exciting thing in this quarters officer note was the Footprint project that we got to do. Our dance room was to be demolished with other parts of the school so our wonderful Ms. Follensbee got clearance from the Principal to do a little demolition of our own. A dance company called DRIP, who works with art mediums such as sand, water, paint, clay, etc., came and helped us with this idea. Only Magnet students got to enjoy this fun. It was an amazing experience to dance in corn starch, and paint. It was magical and wonderful to see as you whipped the corn starch it would rise in the air as you watched, with only the lights of the cameras to see by. I thanked Ms. Follensbee for that once in a life time

Unlike Sidney, I did not choose to leave my education to accomplish my dreams. Even as a young dancer with the passion for succeeding as a professional, my parent’s expectation of me attaining a decent education and stable job drove my decisions. Which ultimately ended in the ceasing of pursuing my dancing…

On Saturday July 2, 2010 I meet Tiffany a 10 year old girl that has leukemia at St. Jude Children’s Hospital. We started talking and when she told me she had leukemia I was surprised how happy she seemed, so I asked her why she seems so happy when she knows she has a disease that’s life threatening, her response was “you only live once and if something were to happen to me the day after tomorrow I don’t want to have any regrets “like I wish I did that” I want to know that I lived my life to the fullest when it’s time for me to go.” When Tiffany told me that it inspired me because you don’t know what the future holds. Although this little girl had gone through intense sessions of chemotherapy somehow she still found the strength to influence…

I also loved the way you pointed out that Auti embraces her disability, because she truly did! No matter what Auti still decide to dance and do what she loved to do, she didn't let a disability stop her, like many people would. I think she is a very strong person that doesn't let anything get in the way of her own dreams.…

I am most thankful for the supervisor that I had at my agency, and the group of students that I have worked with this summer. This summary will be a rap out/ outline of some of the things that I have participated in this summer. I attended my agency four days out of the week, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and on Fridays. As I went out onto the stage, the bright lights hurt my eyes. My hands were sweating and the music for our lyrical started to play. For this dance I felt free. I knew all the moves and they just flowed out of me as I continued to dance. I did not even think about the people in the crowd as I looked to the back of the auditorium. With every breath another second went by, and before I knew it I made my last move and left the stage. I thought “first dance down only two more to go,” as I quickly got ready for the next dance.…

Because I was always one of those kids that never felt comfortable doing any sport, when I discovered that I had a talent for dancing, I was overjoyed. I started dancing during my fifth grade year of school. Immediately I became infatuated with the art. Working very hard my sixth grade year enabled me to join my academy’s dance company. One day during my musical theatre class while doing a combo something wasn’t right. My right leg had a twinging pain and when I did the big kick at the end of the combo, I knew I had pushed myself too far. What should have been the beginning of a long dance career turned into a very long year and a half search of trying to find a way to heal whatever was wrong. It was an experience that I’ll never forget.…

We were able to attend this gala afterwards because we had VIP tickets, and I felt so overwhelmed by being surrounded by so much musical talent and affluence. I can’t even begin to imagine how much those tickets cost everyone who attended. But this soloist was there, and with absolutely no fear in my body, I ran up to her to tell her how beautiful she looked and sounded out there. I’m also positive that I said I wanted to be like her when I grew up, embarrassingly enough. She just laughed and said thank you and that was that, but that night gave me the determination to work so hard so that I, too, could make my Carnegie Hall debut one night.…

    The Jive Dance Analysis

    • 530 Words
    • 3 Pages

Dance differs from sport in that it is not concerned with movement purely as a means of performing but rather with the artistic intent and quality of the movement (Macmillan, 2010). The Jive movement originated from the USA in the early 1930’s. It is a very energetic, boppy dance that encounters a number of fast tricky steps. Biomechanics is an analysis process that detects ways to improve athlete’s performances and techniques. It allows the athlete and the coach to understand how force acting on the athlete’s body determines the movement or performance. From having a thorough knowledge of biomechanics you can detect problems or faults with techniques and to justify changes in technique to perform at an enhanced level. The principles of force,…

How it all started was she became very sick and she decided to go see a doctor they did several lab tests on her and turned out she had spinal cancer that made her by time become paralysis. At home she would do some exercises and massage her legs so it can help her increase the chances to walk again. For almost a year she was paralyzed but she never gave up trying her best. At first, it was hard for me to adjust in regard with our works. We were always excused from classes and I wasn’t used to that but as time passed by, I began enjoying the tasks we need to do in spite of the pressure. Planning activities isn’t that easy but with the cooperation from the council’s other members, we did it all. Not every activity may be planned well but at least I could say we did our best. Two of the activities I’d never forget would be the Intramurals and NDEA’s Closing Ceremony. We went through a lot for those activities to be successful but it was all worth it. Nights spent for planning, days under sun and rain for decorating, lunch breaks when we brainstormed, all of those weren’t wasted. They’re part of something I am proud of as an SSG officer. A lot of sacrifices were also done as an SSG officer. Being out of the classes, missing so much lessons, going to school even during weekends just for planning and beautifying the student body’s activity isn’t simply an effortless job.…
