If you're looking for an outdoors Central Florida vacation, you're in luck. The area has many lakes and Florida fishing is known to be some of the best in the region. While there are many lakes, this guide will go over Weohyakapka, Kissimmee and Hatchineha, three of the top ten Florida fishing lakes. Florida fishing licenses are required, but are reasonably priced for both Florida residents and non-resident visitors.

Visitors can plan to stay in one of the many hotels or Florida campgrounds when on a Central Florida vacation. Whether you prefer RV camps, cabins or roughing it in tents, you'll find many Florida campgrounds to choose from.

Weohyakapka (Walk In The Water)

Lake Weohyakapka is also known as Walk In The Water. The lake is over 7000 acres and is known in national fishing circles for its large trophy mouth bass. It's not unusual for the bass to weigh two to four pounds each, but some as large as 10 pounds can easily be caught. Oftentimes, anglers can catch 15-20 bass each day, though it's best to catch and release since the daily limit is set to three fish per day.

During those months, the weather is cool enough and the bass typically stay in shallower water, making them easier to catch. It is possible to catch them during the hot, humid summer months, but you'll need your bait to go deeper into the lake. Expect to see other wildlife, including eagles, ospreys, alligators and maybe even deer or wild turkeys. If you'd like to make your entire outdoor experience even better, look to some of the many Florida campgrounds nearby.

If the heavy snow is gone, go for it. If not, head southward, or to a shallower lake nearby. Unless you've got inside information that tips you off to active fish before the snow melt-off, skip trying these lakes beforehand.…

Another one of the great attractions to kayaking on the Indian River Lagoon is the abundance of wildlife in the area. It is not out of the ordinary to see a pod of dolphins swimming by. Each time they surface they blow air through their blow hole, which can be pretty startling if you weren't aware they were so close. It is quite the sight when they surface near you as you are paddling along, especially because you are at water level with them and they are such impressively large animals. In the winter time, which has perfect weather for kayaking in Florida, there a lot of manatee in the area too. Huge and awesome they look a little intimidating but they are very docile and curious, coming right up to your kayak to get a good look at you. This fish tends to be found in the northern, colder climates. They can grow much larger than the largemouth bass. The walleye is a much more picky eater than the bass. The walleye will only eat at a certain depth depending on the water clarity, and temperature. It is very popular to catch these fish while ice fishing. In the winter time the walleye becomes less picky and will key in on much more fish, making them easier to catch. When ice fishing you must have a safe thickness of the ice. Then you must drill a hole through it with a device called an ice auger. Then you use tiny rods that average at around 28 inches to pull these walleye out of the water. If you are looking for a little more of a challenge, the walleye may be just the fish for you.…
