In flipping my classroom I would require that the students to write their current events outside of the classroom from a newspaper or magazine so the class will have more time for presentations in the classroom. All the students will benefit from flipping the classroom this way, because everyone will have a chance to present their current event during their class period. Students completing work outside of the classroom provides a good lesson in…

I never came kindly to the subject of Math. Math was always about constant rote memorization, full of extensive redundant notes that always found their way stuffed into the folds of my notebook never to be seen again. I held onto this impression the entire duration of ninth grade. However, upon a simple happenstance of acquiring the right math teacher with a different approach to math, I became increasingly aware of my previous errors in thinking. Everything was not as unyielding and tedious as I thought it was. Experiencing a teacher with a powerful new perspective altered my rigid frame of thinking, allowing me to excel in math.…

It is the sole duty of the teacher to assess the different learning styles early and develop a plan of action. An effective educator should have the ability to foster the students’ confidence levels and monitor the teaching strategies that are unsuccessful. I find that relating math problems to real-life situations enables the students to grasp the material in a unique way. Other ways to address a class with different learning styles is to allow peer tutoring and demonstrate cooperative learning. Cooperative learning allows the students to learn the material as a group. This method is extremely useful because it stimulates discussion and creates an environment where mistakes and triumphs are shared. Peer tutoring is effective because it allows certain students to receive help in a smaller setting. This approach is preferred by most students because it allows them to work with another classmate on an individual basis.…

Four approaches to differentiate instructions can occur by varying contents, processes, products, and manipulating environments. These steps would include students’ preferred modes and therefore, create effective learning environment and help students promote improved achievements. Instructors have to adopt strategies to see what contents their students need to know or already know such as providing pretests or observing their knowledge skills of the topic. If the students demonstrate understanding of the subject can proceed with tasks independently without listening or reading about the topic. The students who do not know the topic would work with students with better knowledge and pick up faster. Instructors need to know what type of students to be taught and modify contents in order to maximize their learning experiences. Students would need to participate in activities preferable to their learning styles to explore and process concepts effectively. Providing alternative methods to modify “ideas embedded within the concept” (Theroux, 2004, para. 11) such as graphic organizers, maps, or charts.…

To me, discipline is a process that enables students to learn to manage their own behaviors in a classroom setting. These learned skills will then carry over as valuable assets in their future careers as students, professionals and parents. I have come to look at management as facilitating the process of learning by establishing expectations in a classroom setting that allow for gains in academics, social behaviors and personal growth. Both of these tools combined are symbiotic in that they support each other and provide the teacher and students with a way to function together at an optimal level.…
