The book I chose this week is called "Tjatjakaymatchan (Coyote) A legend from Carmel Valley" by Alex O. Ramirez and is a Native American tale about why the coyote calls into the night. I would categorize this book as fiction because of the talking coyote and fox. I decided to read this book because of my Choctaw heritage and it reminded me that many first people languages and stories are vanishing into the time because they not written down most of the time. The most interesting piece of information that I found was about why this book was published and it was because the writer's friends encouraged him to write down his memories of his Elders so that they would not fade into time. I also thought his illustrations were interesting because unlike…

I read the book what Happened to Cass McBride. It was a very good book that keeps you on your toes. What I liked most about it though was that you would never expect what happens in the end of the story. I also like that the main character who stayed strong through the whole book and it teaches people who read this, that just when you think it’s over, it’s really not. This is one of my favorite books that I have read.…

A couple of years ago I read a book called Unwind. This book, written by Neal Shusterman, is about a boy that runs from his family. He ran from his family after they signed a contract to have his body harvested. Being “unwound” happened to be a decision that the parents made. Connor’s parents signed a contract without him knowing. After he found the papers in a drawer, he ran away to save his life. Throughout the book, Connor endures many challenges. His mental stamina allows him to outsmart juvey cops, or police that looked for runaway unwinds. He meets many people, but few become his companions. Unwind is a book that I relate to in unique ways.…

Personally, my three favorite books include Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Albom, The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, and Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. I have just realized all the books mentioned are non-fiction texts. Anyway, I enjoy Albom’s memoir because I gained an abundant amount of knowledge and life lessons after reading it. The memoir was emotional, I might have cried three times. Before, I never thought I would come across a book that I could not put down; this book was definitely an exception. The other two texts were also full of emotion and the author’s writing intrigued…

The book series that really got me into reading was the Harry Potter series. I hadn’t been much of a reader beforehand, but suddenly I was immersed in a faraway world filled with magic and adventure. New possibilities opened up for me, books could take me anywhere I wanted; I could escape my boring everyday life and travel through space and time into a million different lives and experiences far more rich in adventure and love and drama and magic than anything I could hope for in the real world. The Harry Potter series showed me how much a book could offer, and ever since then I have loved reading.…

My sophomore year, around April I started reading "Crank" by Ellen Hopkins. I only got somewhere around the 100th page and then stopped reading, because I was always busy with school work. we read a book in class called "Looking for Alaska", I truly enjoyed reading it, that is when I started slowly getting more interested in reading. When school ended for the summer, I had to take summer school, and for my English class I had to read a book and give a presentation over it. The book I chose to read was "The Story of My Life" By Helen Keller, before that I have not been able to finish a book I selected by my liking in almost two years.…

I still till this day read books like his, my favorite one of his books is a recent book he wrote named “The Underdogs”. My overall two favorite novels I absolutely love to read are Gym Candy by Carl Deuker and Knights of the Hill Country by Tim Sharp.
