Five People You Meet In Heaven
The five people you meet in heaven is about a man names Eddie who works at Ruby Pier being a maintenance worker. Eddie spent most of his life at Ruby Pier. Eddie died trying to save a young girl from getting hurt by a falling cart. Instead of the girl getting crushed by the cart Eddies does. When Eddie goes to heaven he meets five people that teaches him different lessons. There are a couple of themes but the one theme that stuck out to me was the importance of “Forgiveness”.
Forgiveness is something that everybody struggles with on the daily basis. The definition of forgiveness is the action or process of forgiving someone or being forgiven. Eddie struggles with forgiving people in his life and forgiving himself also in the book. In the book the third person Eddie meets in heaven is Ruby. Ruby was a photographer, he remembered her in the back of the repair shop, among the old manuals and paperwork from the park’s initial ownership. Beginning of Eddie meeting Ruby, Ruby explains that she forgives her husband, Emile for buying fireworks that burnt down the front entrance of the pier.

Eddie father was a drunk and not caring towards Eddie and his brother Joe. Eventually Eddie father passes away after getting pneumonia from saving his Mickey Shea, from drowning. Eddie learns that he couldn’t control the situation about his dad. Ruby forgave her husband because the burning of the pier is out of her control.
