The problem in our society is the political system that runs the government, and the people in the government who lead the society. However, the main conflict lies on graft and corruption which people get blinded with. They get too interested with the resources available in Mindanao and later on, with the power they get which causes enragement that triggers war. Even in history, these are part of the main concerns of the people living in Mindanao.
We can only put a big cease to every action that lead to hostilities and attain better solutions for these complex issues, when we have a fundamental foundation. That is, edification. Education encompasses not just knowing how to read and write, but teaches people self-discipline, how to assess problems or issues and come up with practical, effective and realistic goals for ourselves and our communities, how to keep and safeguard peace, order, and harmonious living with all people from all walks of life, and most importantly how to improve our own lives, our financial status through legal means, and economic progress of our communities by working together and learning things from each other.
So when we become educated, we rationalize things and come up with an idea of having a safe, assuring, re-designed and working system, that improves and expands the opportunities for addressing the maldistribution of wealth, social injustices, and religious and cultural persecution. These will not only neutralize political conflict but also ensure popular support for state apparatuses that enhance the lives of people; people who have stakes their individual

As the case study covered in this study demonstrates, “peacemaking and post-conflict reconstruction are best achieved by addressing structural injustices. Peacemaking has everything to do with the ongoing management of social and political conflicts through good governance. It encompasses the entrenching of respect for human rights and political pluralism, and the elimination of economic injustice” (Cheru 2002, 196).…

On May 1, 1898 Commodore (later Admiral) Dewey guided his naval attack squadron into Manila Bay and quickly and decisively defeated the Spanish fleet. Not a single Spanish ship survived and not a single American life was lost. Simultaneously the Spanish were being attacked by land on all sides by native Filipino insurgents. With no hope of reinforcements or re-supply the Spanish sued for peace. A tenuous situation presented itself to the Americans, now in charge of a strategic archipelago with a native population striving for independence. I intend to argue that while the Americans had good intentions of allowing Filipino self-rule, the political and perceptual environment in the US made it inevitable that the Americans would end up at war with the Filipinos that they intended to liberate.…

Speaking as a teenage girl who knows little about what’s really going on in Mindanao and how people are coping with the hostilities, feuds and wars, I may never fully understand how someone can deal with such tribulations. I may have experienced struggles myself but theirs is completely different, especially when it has to do with the coexistence betwixt love and war.…

When the United States obtained the Philippines from Spain as a result of the Spanish-American War of 1898, the United States began a campaign to “civilize” and convert the Muslim peoples of Mindanao to Christianity. In 1903 the United States created a separate “Moro” province governed by the U.S. Army in Muslim Mindanao. Although the Muslim population had long resisted being called under the derisory term of “Moro,” they changed that view and adopted the term as a symbol of their identity in resistance to colonial oppression. They created a single identity of being “Moros” or Muslims residing on Mindanao and the neighboring archipelago of Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi. In 1946, after reconquering the Philippines from Japan during World War II, the United States granted the entire country independence. It is at this point that many trace the origins of the contemporary conflict, as the…

Literally, Mindanao is a peaceful place still attach to the nature and home to alluring scenes such as the plateau in Bukidnon, the rice granary area close to marshy land of Maguindanao and North Cotabato and even in the valley of Agusan, vast plantations of agricultural crops in South Cotabato and Davao regions, the rainforests in the whole island that houses endemic flora and fauna. The different and unique cultures found in the island contribute to its tourism potentials. Some of these local diversities are untapped resources that can be explored for the benefit of tri-people in the island. This would give equal opportunity and access to services for each cultural group to live in harmony and mindful of conserving its natural resources.…

Recto covers a whole range of information that is relevant for this research. However, its value is in its information that it provides about the guerrilla groups, how they were formed, and the roll that the youth played in fighting the Japanese. In order to give the reader an idea of what the guerrillas were up against and why they were so determined to fight against the Japanese, I will be referencing Captain Vicente M. Agdamag who wrote, 150 Days of Hell Japanese Invasion of the Philippines 8 Dec 1941-May 1942. His real accounts of his time in the area of study during the Japanese occupation gives a very clear picture as to the horror that was going on and why they people chose to fight against the Japanese. Being a Filipino commander it makes his work even more relevant than the work would be had it been from an American who was there during that time. Because Agdamag does such a great job describing what went on during that time he also gave great accounts of the military movements, this includes both the movements of McArthur (when he was still in the Philippines) as well as the guerrillas. This military information will prove to be vital to constructing this research paper. The final key to my research is a documentary that was created entitled, Bloody War with the Japanese Invaders - The Philippines Hell. This documentary gives a great account over everything that was going on in the area well after…
