First Impressions Of The Movie Crash

My first impression of the movie "Crash" was that it was a bit overwhelming. Though I do agree that many, if not all of the topics are in fact true and made for the movie, I thought it was a bit exaggerated. The movie touched on so many different types of racial, class, and gender stereotypes and all seemed to have been related in the end. For example, the very first scene was of a car accident in which an Asian woman kept trying to say the word brake and the female detective mocked her, but said "blake" instead.
Some others included: Black guy said Whites are afraid all Blacks and that they cling onto their belongings, the Persian guy was buying a gun and the salesman said "jihad", the Black detective called the Hispanic

    Sandra Bullock’s character in the Movie Crash was Jean Cabot. Jean was portrayed as the district attorney’s wife. She became fearful of people of color when she was robbed by the two black gentlemen Anthony and Peter after they left the Asian restaurant feeling like they were discriminated against based on their race. When Anthony an Peter decided to rob the Cabot’s they did it because Jean decide to grab on to Ricks’ arm at the sight of Anthony and Peter. When Anthony and Peter robbed the Cabot’s’ they took their house keys as well causing them to have to get the keys replaced by the locksmith. Since Jean now has that fear that all men of color are going to rob her she then thinks and states it very loudly that the locksmith is going to take a set of her keys and give it to his friends so that they can be robbed again. Her husband Rick is running for re-election as the district attorney. Rick feels as though he could use the carjacking to his electoral advantage as a way to help him get re-elected. Jean had become a very angry person after she got robbed, she was overtly mad at the maid for not taking the dishes out of the dishwasher and Jean had a big fit about it. Jean later talks to her friend on the phone about why she has been so angry lately and she doesn’t understand why. Jean falls down the stairs after she gets off the phone with her friend and just lies at the bottom of the stairs whimpering. Jean later talks to Rick on the phone and she tells him about her accident and that everyone she called was unavailable to help her, the only person that came to her rescue was Maria her maid. As Maria brings Jean a cup of tea Jean hugs Maria and tells Maria that she is her best friend.…

    The movie Crash, created by Paul Haggis, incorporates the many struggles faced by today's racial stereotypes, into a collage of various interconnected, cultural dilemmas encountered by the film's multi-ethnic cast. Paul Haggis uses the dialogue and physical actions of his characters to illustrate the various racial stereotypes that are pre-assigned to each race by every individual. This film is a mesmerizing physical melodrama that touches the emotions of its audience's hearts and souls. Many of the elements delivered by Haggis in this film are portrayed in extreme pairs. This pattern of opposites is conveyed by his protagonist and antagonistic characters, the movie's either night or day setting, and also in the snow and fire scenes. In this film, Haggis reveals to the world the diverse roles played by the many races of modern America. Through blatantly racial problems faced by his characters, Haggis creates a deliberately disturbing film that forces his audience to question their own moral values. Each race is represented throughout the movie and blatantly displays racial discrimination and ethnocentrism. Paul Haggis incorporates the use of identification, parallel plots, reaction shots, point-of-view shots, shot/reverse shots, diegetic music, and post-modern film in the film.     What did I learn from the movie “Crash?” A lot. One lesson I learned is not to judge a book by its cover. For example, in the movie, Sandra Bullock’s character was afraid of and distrustful of her Latino locksmith because he was bald and had tattoos.     The movie Crash conveys the message that conflicts between races is due to a lack of understanding and communication. Though the central meaning of Crash is centered around race, I think the movie has a deeper meaning. I think this movie speaks about people in general; how we treat and interact with one another and how we think of one another. In general people think everything racist is between whites and blacks, but if you look closely in this movie you see minorities and people of the same race being racists towards each other. Furthermore, this movie is trying to convey that because different races don’t bother to try understanding each other or accepting people from different backgrounds that they have hostile relationships. In addition, the message is saying that once you make an effort to overcome your own prejudices and at least attempt to understand the other person that healthy relationships between different races are possible. For example, when Sandra Bullock finally realizes that she has no real friends she accepts that her only friend is her Hispanic house maid. She was blind the entire movie until she overcame her personal barriers and realized that she had a true friend in her housekeeper.…

    Most of us, probably watched at least one of the movies from the Rush Hour trilogy. These movies are hilarious and include lots of action scenes.
