The About Me Paragraph
As a freshman in high school I knew that without a doubt I wanted to join the school plays. Throughout freshman year I acted in all three plays and had the time of my life. Sophomore year came around and with the release of the writes to Hairspray, there was no doubt as to what the next school play was going to be. Auditions were just around the corner and I was nervously trying to prepare a song that my non-musical voice could attempt to sound semi ok to. On the day of auditions I was awaiting my turn when I heard the director mention to a group of girls that people were needed to be on costume crew.
I audition that day, but I also signed myself up for costume crew. The original idea was to be on both costume crew and in chorus, but that didn't last for long. I fell so deeply in love with costume crew that whenever I was on stage singing and dancing, something which previously was where I was most happy, I found my self checking the clock every five minutes anticipating the moment for when I could finally leave and go to the costume room. In the end I dropped out of being on stage all together so that I could devote all my time to costume crew. Being on costume crew was the thing that I looked forward to everyday. I learned how to sew and create different costumes, and I learned how to release my creative side.
The next year I became the head of costume crew when the previous head graduated. I started off with a crew of one which I eventually turned into five more by the end of the year. My senior year as head, I found even more people able and eager to work.
Before costume crew I was just going through high school with my head in the clouds. Because of costume crew I am passionate, I love to help people, I love to be involved. Costume crew lead me to express myself creatively in ways that I had never done before, it lead me to teach a new form of art to others and...
