Finding The Perfect School: Personal Narrative
The college process without a doubt is an intimidating process. The standardized tests, college visits, transcripts, and much more. It can be hard trying to find the “perfect” school. However, with Marquette, I think I discovered the perfect fit. From the moment I stepped on campus on a beautiful crisp spring day, something felt different. I had never felt this feeling at any other college I visited. Marquette felt like home and I could see myself spending the next big chapter of my life there. Growing up in a small suburb southwest of Chicago, there was never much ever going on. Typical Friday nights would consist of football games under the lights and getting food at a local fast food chain with some friends. Sure, at first this doesn’t seem like a problem. However, as I have got older I could see myself having to drive further and further out of town in an attempt to find some sort of entertainment. Don’t get me wrong, I still love my small town but I’m looking for something a little more in life. This is why I believe Marquette is the perfect fit for me. Located right by downtown Milwaukee, there is always something going on but it is far enough away …show more content…
Due to the six-year program Marquette offers, I would be able to finish my studies quicker which would eventually allow me to start helping people quicker. Additionally, Marquette has one of the top-rated Physical Therapy programs in the country which would allow me to get one the best educations available. Finally, due to its close proximity to a thriving city, Marquette would allow me to make many valuable connections to other people in the Physical Therapy field which would benefit me greatly by giving me a head start in the job market before I even graduate. As a driven student, it is my dream to be able to receive an education and eventually a degree from Marquette

I went to St. Michael School from Kindergarten through Eighth grade, so when it came time to leave for high school, I was not excited for the change. St. Michael was especially small in regards to student population. We had just under three hundred students split between all nine grades. That left roughly twenty to thirty kids per class. I was extremely used too this small environment and not exactly looking forward to the terrors of high school towering over me nor the thought of being lost in the sea of students. Over the years I was extremely imbedded in my academics. I had straight A’s for my entire time at St. Michael. I received the academic achievement award at Eighth grade promotion for having the highest GPA in my class. Despite this, I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to live up…

“Slow down, future leaders of America at play,” a sign engrained in my memory as a result of the numerous volunteer trips I took to Mountain Mission School. Mountain Mission School (MMS) is a Christian boarding school and home to many children, who come from devastating backgrounds and poverty. Receiving no government funding, Mountain Mission School located in Grundy, Virginia operates solely on private donations and generous charities from churches all over America. In addition to a school, MMS played a key role in my life. Not only was MMS my home but also my church starting from second grade up until I graduated high school.…

A campus exploding with excitement, knowledge, diversity, and curiosity- there is not much more to ask for. After visiting the campus multiple times, it was impossible to not fall in love. The atmosphere was abundantly uplifting and utterly welcoming. The decision to apply to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse was quite effortless, especially with the academics, clubs, and campus safety the school provides.…

Williams Elementary School is located just off of interstate 75 and home of the mighty Eagles. From the outside it has the appearance of a typical school with screaming students, rushing parents, and screeching buses. It is made out of boring brown bricks and beige stucco boarding near the top of the building. The inside features a prison-like setup, only with more vibrant colors. There is a double door leading into an office with multiple faculty and staff. In order to actually enter the school, you have to be buzzed in by the round and hyper man at the main desk. Once in the building, you will see that it is shaped like a large square with hallways extending from four sides. The hallways are full of colorful painting of eagles, laminated…

Growing up my mom has always encouraged my siblings and I to continue our education to as far as college. My mother never really got the chance to attend college because her family could not afford to put all their kids in school. She had seven siblings and an extra bill for school was not something her parents were able to afford. I consider myself really lucky to be alive in a time where there are so many opportunities to be able to afford college. If it were not for scholarships and financial aid, my mother’s story would be repeated once again. Through financial aid, the door for a college career is opened for me and I’m willing to enter it. My biggest motivator to push myself academically has been my…

When I started Unity High School I thought that we were going to get a lot of work from my classes, and that work was going to be extremely hard. I also thought that I wasn't going to have any free time to do anything because of that, but it turned out to be wrong because the teachers give us a good amount of work but its not really hard. I thought that making friends in Unity would be hard in a sort of way but it was quit easy because everyone else was trying to make friends too. When I first got to Unity I also thought that there was going to be a few school clubs, but there is a good amount of clubs that students can join if they want to join some type of club. I think as a person I have grown more since first coming to Unity because I…

We are very fortunate to have an alternative campus in our school district. Shannon High School is for students that have fallen behind in their credits, have dropped out of school and have decided to return to school, or feel like they do not fit in at one of our main traditional campuses. Shannon classes are small, and students have the opportunity to be successful and earn their high school diploma. Tammy Wright is one of the wonderful teachers at Shannon High School. Ms. Wright is a business and marketing teacher at Shannon as well as a school aged parent coordinator on campus. Furthermore, Ms. Wright serves as an advisor to the student organization, DECA. It was a pleasure to sit down with Ms. Wright and ask her a few questions about her…

Asheville School is terrific, and my favorite parts are the campus, boarding, and the athletics. Asheville School has an very old beautiful campus. This school has a large campus with brick buildings. The campus has been around since 1900. This school is a boarding school. This means for an extra cost, you can rent and live on campus in small dorms. Because of this, if I have friends that live on campus I am allowed to sleep in their dorms if I need to. Asheville School also has a awesome athletics program. They have football, soccer, baseball, basketball and many other sports. There is also mountaineering which is a bunch of different activities such as rock climbing, white water kayaking and mountain biking. I really like Asheville School…

Marquette is ranked No. 63 by high school and private independent school guidance counselors in 2012. It’s located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Marquette is known for its outstanding academics, and varying majors. Additionally, Marquette is a Catholic Jesuit college, which means there are a lot of spiritual bases in finding God in everything that is done. This means in education we can find some inspiration to do better and be better, no matter what is one’s faith or traditions; the common ground for almost everything is education and its importance. With a degree from Marquette comes a lot of bragging rights, and is highly looked upon. When applying for a job Marquette stands out on a resume over most universities and colleges. Marquette is one the best universities offered in Wisconsin besides UW Madison. I believe I would like to further my first class education with Marquette because of great programs offered and the greater spiritual background received with a degree.…

I was 14 years old. The day was sunny and warm with a few clouds in the sky. I had a tournament that day at my school. The tournament started in the afternoon and ended in the evening. My school is Homedale middle school. The tournament was in the school’s gym. The tournament was a wrestling tournament, it's was if you lose twice you're out. I had to wrestle my opponent, while my coach sat on the sidelines giving me tips on what to do. The matt that I wrestled on had a rim and he sat on the outside of it. We went on that felt like ages. We went for a long time, we both were getting tired. So tired that we practically laying on each other. After a long tiring and exhausting match, I saw an opportunity. The opportunity was huge. In a black Nissan car a girl and her mom sat, supposedly talking, “Mom, I’m going to make a fool of myself, can’t I just go to my old school?” I pleaded my mom. “Don’t say that you’re going to make lots of new friends. Just try in out” my mom replied to my pleading. I had come to west middle after going to a private school for six years and I was very nervous.…

Waking up, getting dressed, and hustling my way to school just to sit in a cold metal chair for seven hours is how my days always seemed to start. After having my mind hypnotized by eight different teachers, I preferred nothing less than to drag myself home to rest. My sister, Sydney, normally appeared about two hours later at which we would sit down, crack open the books, and start our homework. This day started the same boring way, but did a complete back-flip in the afternoon turning my routine upside down on itself. Today when I returned home ready to rest I was bombarded by Sydney; not even a warning cry to prepare me for what was coming. I was knocked to the ground and then violently picked up and tossed into the back seat of an SUV.…
