Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the diversity in the United States and how it has helped me understand it and the new information I learned. The next part will deal with the trends in immigration and the potential United States population in the future. We will look at challenges and benefits of economic, social and political standings in American Society. The second half of this paper will discuss ways to foster acceptance and cultural pluralism in the U.S. along with discovering how the media perpetuates stereotyping.

Helpful Information About Diversity That Helped Understanding In studying about the diversity in the United States, it has helped me to understand that diversity is not only limited to racial groups or skin color. It also involves other categories such as cultures, organizational groups, religious and educational backgrounds. Once broken down by racial groups, diversity can also be found in various categories. So there is a vast majority of information that was being missed because of my concept being limited to just racial and ethnic groups. I also learned that people are all different and unique, and everyone should be willing to accept how each individual is different instead of passing judgment or being biased of their own racial group. This is easily done by everyone without giving any thought to how it creates problems between each racial group. All individuals should be treated with dignity and respect. (Cook, 2014). Immigration and Population Trends By the Year 2050

By the year 2050, the U.S. population he Black, Hispanic, Asian, and Native American portion of the population in the United States is expected to increase from 36 percent to 54 percent. Although the composition of the population is changing, problems of prejudice, discrimination, and mistrust remain. With the projected increase in the minority portion of the population, this would also mean that the white population will gradually decrease and they will eventually become the minority. This is due to the diversity in our country and the fact that the racial groups are inter-mingling with each other (U.S. Census, 2010 & Schaefer, 2012). Challenges to Diversity in the United States

There are several challenges to diversity that exists which includes Fairness, Management Complexity, Differences versus Similarities, and Loyalty and Identity. Fairness. Diversity creates questions about fairness because discrimination and equality in the workplace is always a factor. Because of this, mechanisms must be put in place to assure that questions of fairness do not arise and to ensure that everyone in the organization is treated equally. Management Complexity. It often seems easier to manage a group of people who all have the same or similar mindset, but these people do not always get along. However, in a homogenous group, there tends to be less conflict and management does not have to adjust their style. They do not need to approach or listen to people differently and they do not need to find new approaches to tasks, as they are always completed successfully using one method, if it is not broken why fix it? Differences versus Similarities: It is simpler to think that working with people that have similar backgrounds is easier. We don't have to worry about different styles or understanding new perspectives. We also don't have to adjust to different attitudes.  Loyalty and Identity: As members of a homogenous group, we believe we know who we are. We don't feel the need to constantly redefine ourselves and we don't need to wonder if we can trust those new people with new values, if they will back us up or if they will be loyal to the organization. (Andrade, 2011) Benefits of a Diverse Society

The benefits of a diverse society are that a person will have the opportunity to know about other cultures. Since diverse...
