Films versus books

Nowadays, in the century of the technological progress, people tend to read less and instead of it they prefer to watch movies. It depends on people, but for me books are much better.
Firstly, books develop in us the power of the imagination. Readers create their own world, they decide for themselves, how the characters look like, how they speak and other details. This imagination is the creative process, which is missing in the film. Books let us live everything that happens with the characters through the pages.
Secondly, usually films, based on the books, don`t live up the expectations. For instance, in the film there may be no part of the book you really like.
Thirdly, you can read books sitting at home or anywhere else. Moreover, reading books helps to improve vocabulary, it is good for the brain, requires concentration.
In addition, books have got much more feelings. In the movies actors play their roles, because it is their job, and they have got salary for doing it. Plots make more sense in book form by virtue of telling the story, but not due to the visually effects.
It is just my opinion in favour of books

Why is it that when a book gets it’s own movie that there are several differences between the book and the movie? Some people argue that the book is always better than the movie. There is a reason for this. Firstly, in most book to movie adaptations small details are changed or are just not included. Secondly, the movie often takes short cuts and doesn’t touch on certain aspects that were described in the book. Lastly, when reading a book you are free to make your own subtext and fill in the blanks with your imagination. The movie adaptations of books have always lacked the detail that's in the book, some things are completely cut from the movie to maintain a well paced story, and it fills in the gaps for us making the experience less unique.…

In many movies there is a book created before the movie so the movie can base it off the book. Such as unbroken, a story of a man that was never broken after being held prisoner in japan during WWII, this book was made before the movie and came out completely different. The movie only took the important parts of the book such as running in the olympics and being held prisoner. In the movie there are many key differences between the book and the movie, but they both are still very similar. There are so many books and movies like that.…

I think it is very important to make changes in the movies from the book because usually in books they are so descriptive to the point where some stuff aren’t that important or just too expensive to have in movies. With books you have to describe a lot to really paint a picture in someone’s mind, but in movies it will show you the really important parts from the book to really make up the movie and the whole plot, and without the plot it isn’t really based on the…

Movies and books are always different; in a movie you can show multiple characters, and in most books you're stuck in one character's narrative. For instance in the book The Giver the character Fiona doesn’t care about Jonas as deeply as she does in the movie. In the movie she stops her injections, and she starts to love Jonas. However in the book she only “enjoys having Jonas’s company”. In the movie she also helps Jonas steal Gabe before he is killed, and she is put in the community jail for helping him. Before she is going to be released she talks about how she has felt things. That she knows what it is like to truly feel, and in the book she isn’t this unorthodox.…

Stephen King, an American author and director once said, ¨Books and movies are like apples and oranges. They both are fruit, but taste completely different.¨ In other words, both are meant to entertain, but they are not always appealing in the same ways. A movie based on a book can sometimes give the viewer a very different feeling than the original reading experience. The movie, A Raisin in the Sun, is much better than the book by Lorraine Hansberry, because the movie includes additional scenes that allow for further detail about the Youngers’ lives; this did not occur in the book.…

One thing in particular that the book does much better is making use of complex metaphors and themes, such as: the river for life, and oneness with nature, that string themselves together as you turn each page of the book, while in the movie the metaphors and symbolism are represented in a much different way through picture. In the book, both themes regarding the river are very vivid and clear, as they use strong imagery of nature to draw pictures in the minds of the readers. In the movie both themes are represented and referred to much less because of the lack of narration.…

One reason I like the book more than the movie is that the movie leaves out some very important scenes out of the plot. For example, one very important part left out by the movie is the very beginning of the story, when the main character has something traumatising happen to him. I think that was a mistake not having it in the movie.…

To illustrate I have watched movies after reading the book and have been very dissatisfied with the results. When reading a novel I can use my own imagination to follow the story as the author describes each scene, and when the movie is made the author does not make the scene according to what I see, feel, and think as I read the story. This…
