It offers a well-rounded overview of the film business, including artistic development and technical training. Alumni include the creme-de-la-creme of French filmmaking, from Louis Malle, Alain Resnais and Costa-Gavras to newcomers like Francois Ozon, Laetitia Masson, Noemie Lvovsky and Rebecca Zlotowski. In their first year, students are initiated into all aspects of production before specializing in a specific field chosen from seven main departments: directing, editing, sound, set design, cinematography, screenwriting and production. 1. Motives and Context: The primary source was an interview conducted by Henry Halem in 2000, who interviewed a former Kent State student named Rob Fox. Rob Fox witnessed the 1970 National Guard shootings at Kent State University in Ohio. He was a young student at the time who was really against the war in Vietnam and against Richard Nixon's proposal of sending troops into Cambodia. This source was intended for a general audience, who wants to analyze and hear first-hand accounts of what really occurred in Kent State. The interviewer who interviewed Rob Fox and the Kent State University wanted to document and record the experiences of the students and witnesses who experienced the Kent State shootings in the 1970s. Rob Fox shared his story as best as he could remember and he said, "When we tell our story, people listen to use. And people want to know what really happened there. So that's why I came in today. I have wanted to do this for a long time." He wanted to share his experience and have his voice recorded to tell the story of what went down in Kent in the spring of 1970. One specific feature of the source that provides evidence of the author's motives is when Fox discussed how the National Guards marched…

I am interested in studying film because of the impact it has had on my life personally. When I was twelve years old, I watched Davis Guggenheim’s documentary Waiting for Superman (2010). This film explored the gaps that are within the American public school system and how many people are “left behind”. At the end of the film I was in tears. I felt that it was unfair that many children were not receiving a quality education. This film not only inspired me to become a documentary filmmaker, but it made me passionate about social issues such as education inequality, whether within America or abroad. I was always interested in the production aspect of film, but it was not until my junior year of high school in my IB Film class that I became interested…

Throughout history man has built homes along the shorelines of the sea. We built fishing villages to provide sustenance to our people. Life on the seacoast has shifted from one of necessity of sustainability to one of luxury. Though some local people still making a living by harvesting the fruit of the sea these folks are far from living in the lap of luxury. The fact is the “average” person cannot afford to build an oceanfront home. Many of these homes are built for people who love to be near the ocean because it is indeed a beautiful place to live. They have the financial capabilities to build oceanfront and they do so for their own personal pleasures whatever they may be. Imagine building your dream home just a stone’s throw from the sea. The natural beauty of the ocean is appealing to just about everyone. To afford the ability of waking up to such a setting every day is a dream for many of us. I wonder do these privileged few take into consideration the fact that they are living on the edge of an ecosystem so vast and powerful that its beauty is rivaled only by its capacity for devastation and destruction under the right conditions. Hell hath no fury like Mother Nature on a rampage and every New Englander knows the weather here can in fact be hellacious. Unpredictability is the hallmark of New England weather and makes living on the seacoast exciting as you never know what you’re going to be facing from day to day. Many people who inhabit the oceanfront enjoy watching the sea churning and whipping up a good storm. I frequent the beach myself during such storms as it’s exciting to watch and the fresh ocean smell is invigorating to me. Personally I would never build oceanfront as it is more appealing to me to have a natural and pristine coastline.…

AbstractWith all the latest technologies and techniques being implemented, Cell phones are no more used for just calling or messaging. They are at a stage where they can be used for doing almost anything and everything. The leading cell phones in today’s tech-race are the Android phones and the iPhones of Apple. These two are leading the market when it comes to phones with latest and leading technology. iPhone applications are developed in Objective C language while Android applications are developed in Java. Due to the current restrictions and differences between iPhone and Android platforms, applications that need to be deployed on both the platforms need to be developed twice. This involves double effort and time. Hence, there is a rise in demand, for Java to Objective C translator. This translator will allow an application to be developed only once but deploying it on both the platforms, i.e. iPhone and Android. Whenever any new application is to be developed, its application code along with the translation details are sent to the translator. If the application to be developed is for an iPhone, then the translator will refer to the Objective C library and generate a respective Objective C code for that application. If it is to be developed for an Android phone, then the translator will refer to the java library and generate java code for that same application. The generated code will then be sent to be implemented on the required platform. This would help in reducing the development time and energy.…
