Film Review – 127 Hours

Today I would like to recommend a movie to you called “127 Hours”. It is the true story of the adventure of a mountain climber, Aron Ralston. Ralston was hiking alone one day and incidentally he was trapped in a canyon with his arm stuck under a rock. He got very little water and food and even more worse, he had not told anyone where he was going.

After being trapped for over five days, he realized that there was very little chance that someone would rescue him and he was waiting to die. During this critical moment, he recalled friends, lovers, family, and the two hikers he met before his accident, which gave him the courage and hope to survive. As a result, he decided to cut off his arm so as to save his life, and he succeeded.

“127 Hours” is a great movie and is really worth watching. There are a lot of inspirations that you can gain from watching it. In fact, it is not just a movie. It is an experience. It explores a very large range of physical and psychological emotions. It examines the meaning and value of life.

After watching this movie, I have learnt that we should stay positive and not to surrender whenever we face difficulties. Moreover, from time to time we should re-examine our lives to see what goes wrong and what we could do differently to make our lives more meaningful. We should always possess a positive and can-do attitude and more importantly, there is no force on earth more powerful than the will to survive. I highly recommend this movie to all of you. Thank you.

After being stuck under this enormous boulder for 127 hours, Aron knew that his survival required some harsh actions. Aron had no other choice but to amputate his arm, from the elbow below. Aron had a small pocket knife with him that he used to free his arm. He gingerly bandaged up where he had amputated his arm. Aron tied a rope around himself and pulled himself sixty feet up to the top of the canyon, and continued walking. He walked for over four hours when he noticed a helicopter. The helicopter saw Aron, was able to pick him up, provided him with care and brought him to the closest hospital for surgery.…

One lesson that you could learn from this film is that you shouldn’t be scared to speak your mind. When Jack Ryan says that Marko Ramius might be trying to defect no one listens to him and they just think he is going to attack. What really is going on is that Marko Ramius wants to live in America and escape where he has come from. When Jack goes out to see if he is right he finds that he is right. People can use this lesson when taking on an issue of public concern because you should be able to say what you think about a topic.…

It showed me how our education system worked and how it is controlled. I would also recommend it to someone that is wanting to be a teacher in the near future. This movie will show them the other side of education. The side were teachers are blamed for student success rates and how hard it is to become a good teacher. I feel like teachers have a good concept on why they want to become a teacher but they don’t really know what it takes. If this movie can open my eyes to our educational world then I am sure it can do the same to anyone that watches…

Without a doubt, it's a hugely compelling and thought provoking movie and it makes you ask very poignant questions about yourselves or anyone around.
