The aim of this report is to critically analyse the architecture of the website www.flinders.ed.au. The information gathered from the analysis will be used to devise solutions to problems with the website. The technique of examination for the website was to thoroughly explore the different pages of the website and grade each area of the website using appropriate criteria. Within the museum you’re exposed to over 30,000 artifacts and several exhibitions that were primarily set out for individual pieces of African American history. It made me feel like I was taking a closer encounter with history and the importance of the African American culture and life. Every exhibition had its own feel to it, and its own relevance, with each display and individual storyline, made it all the more very special. I think with every exhibition, the intention was to make people feel like they were truly once a part of that time and age. Although, it’s difficult to imagine any more of what lies in the roots of African American history and life, I…

For students in the process of obtaining their BSW, I think the field experience is critical because without it, you just read about the field in a textbook. You have to go out and see things that are actually happening with your own eyes in order to really learn. I think it’s great that you included about the problems that people are facing nowadays. No matter what the cause, there are some people who are not able to manage things happening in their lives, which is where a social worker comes in. As we learned, the social worker is then able to connect them with community resources, and if they have a higher degree, can even offer counseling to the client in need.…

Observing teachers is a great way to see the day to day operations of what goes into the setting of the class. Within the first few months of school, by then the students should have a good understanding of the expectations of the class. It is important to realize that the teacher trains the students what the rules and expectations are from day one in their classroom. These rules and expectations come from their classroom management plan.…

Through class lesson I have learned new things from my classmates, from newspapers and from my teachers. I have learned that we as a nation are too quick to believe when something is right or wrong without taking the accounts into consideration. With this, I have learned to question the details and being more involved to avoid blindly answering. My classmates have taught me that we can all help each other improve. I have examined students in the Wight Foundation helping one another out so we can all excel. There is always room for growth even when you think you are your…

    School Fieldwork Study

My field study was conducted at the Talented and Gifted School for Young Scholars (T.A.G.) Middle School located in the East Harlem section of Manhattan. T.A.G. is a selective public school, governed by the NYC Department of Education. It was founded in 1989 as a magnet program within the school system’s District 4, and became an independent K-8 gifted and talented school in 2004. T.A.G. is one of only three gifted and talented programs in New York City. It serves students identified with gifted abilities in grades K-8. Children are admitted to kindergarten through 2nd grade based on their scores on two tests, the Otis-Lennon School Abilities Test (OLSAT) and the Bracken School Readiness Assessment (BSRA). Children whose scores put them in the 97th percentile nationally are eligible. There are a handful of seats open in the upper grades. Middle school admission is based on grades, standardized test scores and teacher recommendations. There are approximately 500 students comprised mainly of African-American, Hispanic, and Middle Eastern backgrounds, reportedly only 2% of the student body is Caucasian. Each grade level has two classes of up to 25 students each. The school is located in a building that houses four other mini schools, a common practice in schools these days. For instance the high school I attended has been divided into five different high schools.…

Some classes harbored students who comprehended the material better, were ethnically diverse, special education, motivated and lazy students. Each time I observed, there were particular occasions that I had anticipated to occur and other instances that astounded me. I found it intriguing, to see how the teacher responded when something in the classroom did not go as planned and then observe them trying to not let it affect their teaching plan for the day. After my observations, I am self-assured and avid that I want to become a teacher and will make a good one at that.…

    Fieldwork

At my research site I plan on taking notes my in a small notebook so I could easily jot down notes as I see/hear things occur. On my notes I will make sure to include date, time, specific facts, numbers, sensory impressions and summaries of conversations. I will just jot down phrases or words to remember what I saw or something to easily trigger my memory. The elongated notes I will write them as soon as possible and if time doesn’t allow it then I will do the elongated notes as soon as I leave my fieldwork site. I want to be able to write down everything that seemed interesting because I want good data. The activities I will pay more attention to is when the teacher goes around the class and works one on one with students. I want to see how she reacts towards the student’s inability/inability to answer a question. Does the teacher handle her class well? Is she open to diverse cultures and ideas? I also want to pay attention to how the teacher greets the class at the beginning of the day. How is she able to get the class settled in. Is there a certain method she does to make the students get in their seats and began to do class work? The obstacles that I fear might get in my way are that I might not be able to take notes during my fieldwork site. I’m afraid that I might have to remember everything and then as soon as I leave fieldwork have to jot everything down and once I have time I would write my elongated notes.…

I enjoy being in the classroom for several reasons. First, I find it very rewarding working with children and helping them to gain knowledge and grow as individual. Additionally, I enjoy the challenge of working with children who have difficulties in content areas or challenging students who are strong in certain content areas. Finally, I take pleasure in creating a warm and inviting classroom culture with my students.…
