Fiber Optics Sales Manager As the Human Resource Director for my company I have the task of hiring a sales manager to sell the latest fiber optics products to leading wireless manufacturers of five key companies. Based on the information given to us in these brief resumes, I would extend the offer to Karen, the sales representative. Karen has five years of successful sales experience and strong technical background in Fiber Optic Engineering. These two factors most closely match the job requirements necessary to function in the sales consultant role. If Karen declines Jyoti, manager of a wireless retail store would be my second choice. Jyoti has a strong sales record, however retail sales verses selling to wireless manufacturers require a different approach.

Lynn would be my third choice as she is strong in technical background and experience but unproven so far as successful selling techniques. It may be a career risk for me if she is offered the position and fails; I would seek other applicants before extending Lynn the offer. Jake would be the last choice of the four, however I do not feel Jake is a qualified person for the role. Like Lynn, again it would not be prudent to offer the position to him as he would be misplaced. I would open up the job posting again or advertise the position to secure additional applicants, if Karen or Jyoti, do not accept an offer. I do not feel Lynn the IT manager or Jake a CPA trying to get into sales meet qualifications for this

The exercise was designed so that everyone is assigned to an executive position in PB Technologies. Then, everyone has to choose his or her candidate individually before we attend the executives meeting to come up with a single candidate. My position in the organization was the VP of Marketing. Once I received the exercise’s handout, I read it carefully, compared the three candidates’ resumes and then decided to nominate Suzanne T. Valdes for the Senior VP of Finance and CFO position. I based my decision on the fact that she has the most related work experience and personality to the position, EMBA and she is an insider, which I believe is a very important quality for that position.…

    Field Auditor Analysis

That's a little more challenging. I have conducted the first round of interviews and I'm going to interview one candidate one more time; however, may decided not to hire him. Another I like; however, she has no finance or accounting background. I just wish I could combine the two candidates and I would have one good one. I get another batch of applicants first week of November. I hope it is a better batch. The title of the positions hurts Field Auditor 2 (Senior Auditor) and Field Auditor 3 (Internal Auditor). That's just the classification they can be called anything; however, it hurts because it's what's indicated on the job description. Additionally, they posted the minimum salary of $33K & 30K which I'm going to pay a lot more than that which of course hurts things. I'm working with HR to remove the minimum salary, move to mid range, or something for the next posting. I'm sure that will…

After reading all of the profiles from some very qualified personnel, I believe that Jyoti of Wireless Retail Store would be best qualified for the position. While she did state she was single and available to travel and work long hours because of it, I would actually expect a married applicant to be more willing to do what it takes since they have a responsibility to support a family. If being away from family and loved ones isn’t something that a candidate could handle then I wouldn’t expect them to apply for the job in the first place. Another trait that stood out of Jyoti’s profile was that she trained other salespeople. This tells me that Jyoti is not only an expert in her field, but she is also a team player looking to improve the qualities of those around her for the benefit of the company. As a person this quality also leads me to believe that she probably also has good morals, but that is only an opinionated judgment.…

In this case, the manager and customer service director of Menton Bank’s Victory Square branch were selecting the new head CSR. Three candidates had their own strengths and weaknesses. With previous promotion criteria for head CSR, Karen Mitchell with good operational skills would be the best choice. However, under the new banking policies and evaluation criteria, Jean Warshawski with excellent selling skills would fit the position. The main problem here was how to balance the operational skills and selling effectiveness for CSRs and head CSR, which would fit and implement the new bank policies.…
