Feud In Romeo And Juliet Essay

The feud that takes place between the Montagues and the Capulets seems to be what is responsible for the deaths that take place throughout the play. First off, the feud causes Tybalt to lash out at Romeo, Benvolio and Mercutio throughout the play, which causes Mercutio’s death. Also, Romeo and Juliet would not have to hide their love, causing the Friar to devise a scheme to keep them together that causes the couple to die. Another theory to prove this statement is that if there were no feud, the couple would not be joined together because of the fact that the Friar only married them to end the feud. As a result of these key events it is concluded that the feud is responsible for the deaths in the story of Romeo and Juliet. The first death in this story is Mercutio’s death. This deadly scene begins with Mercutio and Benvolio, in a public place, where they receive a letter telling them that Tybalt would like to challenge Romeo for going to the Capulet’s party the night before. Another influenced death from this feud is Mercutio and Tybalt’s death; their death involves revenge on the opposing family. Also, because of Tybalt’s death, this causes Romeo to be banished and gives great grief to Lady Montague which causes her to die.
