Fear In Scary Films

Fear Essay Scary stories?, scary movies?, scary houses? What really causes fear. IN fact Fear can be caused by so many things. Even your imagination can cause thrilling, terrifying, and mindless fear. In this case three stories can explain how fear is created. Fear can be caused, when hormones, hallucinations, and gothic literature come into place. Often times our imaginations can cause terrible, mindless fear, when a scary event occurs often hormones can cause a chemical reaction causing fear. For example, in “Why Do Some Brains Enjoy Fear” by Allegra Ringo. The author explains a hormone called “oxytocin” this hormone is“ working to make these moment stick into your brain.”(Ringo 94) this quote illustrates that this hormone will make scary and thrilling events traumatizing. For example, in the story “The fall of the House of Usher” by Edgar Allen Poe. The author explains the narrator's paranormal entity. “I did actually hear… a low and apparently distant, , but harsh, protracted, and unusual screaming or grating sound.” (Poe 28) this quote reveals the dark words used to explain what he is hearing. And these dark words can cause you to have goosebumps. Words like “harsh… unusual screaming or grating sound.” to explain the sound of the screaming, almost as if these words make the screaming more fearful than usual. Another example, Usher’s outburst “We have put her living in the tomb!...I hear her first feeble movements in the hollow coffin… Ha! Ha! The breaking of the hermit's door… rending of her coffin, and grading of the iron hinges of her prison,” again this has a certain words that give great impression of fear, like rending (pulling something apart by force, or violently) in this case he is hearing his sister (who is suppose to be dead) come back from the grave, this literature makes up picture a corpse fighting the
