Provides students with an overview of the manifestation of Islamic culture in Arab History through the study of the basic Islamic texts and the contributions of Muslim intellectuals.| I| Course Learning Outcomes| Upon completion of the course, students will be able to: 1. Outline the basic features of Islam from its historical foundation and expansion to modernity; 2. Explain the reasons for the rise of Islam in relation to its historical, religious and political setting; 3. Describe the Islamic concept of God and other theological issues; 4. Outline Islamic law and its basic legislative concepts; 5. Illustrate Islam’s spiritual and mystical traditions; 6. Differentiate Islam’s philosophical traditions; 7. Define the salient features of Islamic Art and Architecture; 8.
