Fayden A Hero's Journey
(Male Omega)
Fayden walked down the street in the early morning, sure he should have waited for someone to go with him but he wanted to be alone. He needed time to think, and come to terms with the loss of his family. He knew that his town would treat him differently now but he wouldn't leave it... That town was all Fay knew and it made the eighteen year old boy sad that he really hadn't gone anywhere in his life except to the big city a few times with his father. He slipped under the fences and over the walls as he made his way to the frozen pond. His sea green eyes looked at the layer of ice and smiled running his hand over it and then tapping it listening to hear if it would keep him up. His legs pushed him around the ice as he took several deep breaths then stood in the middle of the pond. 'Breath it is just a few spins and jumps.' Fay thought to himself as he did such a routine and started to smile as he added a few other things. His father had trained him but after the fire the ice was really his only place that felt safe for him. He skated and skated until he was mentally and physically exhausted maybe he would be able to sleep a few hours before going into work at the small cafe. He sat down on the ice feeling the cold rush to his warm body as he looked at the grey sky and smiled "Perfect time for a storm."He said as he laid on the ice looking as the lightning danced across the sky in an intense way that made Fay relax more and not hear the ice starting to crack. His hand pushed the black hair out of his face as he sat up when he heard a noise and realized it was the damn ice cracking. He swallowed hard. "This isn't good."He groaned as he tried to shift his weight evenly but soon was engulfed in the icy November water. He tried to grab onto the edge of the ice but no such luck as he went under filling his lungs with the icy liquid making sure he couldn't even try to hold

In Perfume, Patrick Süskind illustrates Grenouille as a villain through language, however, the structure of Grenouille’s story mirrors one of a hero. The scholar Joseph Campbell defines a popular structure in literature of a hero’s story, called the “Hero’s Journey” (Vogler). This structure follows a hero through his/her adventure and the things that he/she faces. It includes a call to adventure, supernatural aid, threshold, revelation, transformation, and return. Süskind constructs a story with this structure to ironically juxtapose Grenouille’s true character. This irony creates a much more intriguing character than a stereotypical villain, creating a disturbing quality…

His heart pounded heavily against his chest, the wheels turning in his mind about his next course of action. Dare he stay out? Dare he go in? Those were his only two choices and neither one of them were all that appealing to him. Greer knew very well what awaited him outside: emptiness—a whole lot of it. Not only did a vast, uninhabited plain welcome him, but Death did as well. So, hesitantly, Greer shifted and moved inside. Icy pellets of frozen snow littered his helmet and clothing, and his boots were covered in fluffy, white blankets of crystallized moisture. He didn’t have much time to take in his new surroundings before the door slammed abruptly shut behind him. The unexpected and confusing clamour caused him to spin, instinctively, back towards the door. Immediately, his hands tried the lever, but it wouldn’t shift, not even so much as a fraction of a stir. Instantaneously, fear and panic overwhelmed him. Greer wrenched on the door’s lever as hard and with as much muscle as he could muster; then the voice…
