Despite that the fastpitch lost many seniors last year, the underclassmen have stepped it up to fill in those spots.Freshman Megan Bellusci says “ a little bit nerve racking, but it is a lot of fun, and I can look up to anyone to help me out if I have questions.” Everyone is super supportive with one another, even if they lose or win. Sophomore Lauren Rassmessen says “ we build each other up, work together very well, we are all good friends, and even before a game we keep each other pumped up.” The Fastpitch team has created an amazing bond with one another. The Huron Baseball/Softball Program has meant more to me than I ever imagined it would when I first started playing softball. Softball has become more than a sport to me, as it has become a way for me to meet a lot of amazing people and stay involved in the community. I have been involved in the program for around 7 years, as I joined my first team in 2009. Through the past seven years I have come to realize that the Huron Baseball/Softball Program has built me into the person I am today. Without the program I never would have met my outstanding coaches, such as Mike Everman, Jay Clevenger, and Abbey Cook, who have taught me more than just about the game of softball. These coaches have taught me about the value of being a team player, what…

    1) One of the issues is the lack of cohesiveness and willingness to contribute in a team environment. Crew relies heavily on teamwork and demands that all team members “buy in” to the concept of performing as one athlete. 2) As the leader of the group, coach Preczewski did not effectively incorporate the proper team building exercises or instill trust among teammates that is critical in a team environment. 3) A “star mentality” was evident among the members of the varsity team. Members of this group would routinely critique each other individually on the details of practice or a race. However, members of the junior varsity team did not criticize each another individually. If corrections were needed, they never singled out a crewmember, but made comments about the necessary adjustments needed to improve the effort of the team.…

It really surprised me and inspired me as a coach. I hope all the runners I coach leave BHS remembering track as one of the highlights of their high school career, for the friendships they’ve made and the experiences we had together.” In track you meet many diverse people and create bonds and friendships that can last long after high school. Senior track captain biancha Aime says “My favorite thing about being part of the Track and Field team is the bonds you make. Being an active player in the OMHA for just over ten years now, has allowed me to appreciate and take great pride in the game of hockey. Not only have I been educated in the sport, but have also been taught essential values that will stay with me for the rest of my life. Time management is a skill that all hockey players require; from attending practice on time, to balancing the timely sport with schoolwork, it is undoubtedly beneficial. As the assistant captain, my mission is to build chemistry within our team by encouraging new players to bond with the entire lineup. There’s an unspoken bond between teammates who share burning calves accompanying “Fitness Fridays”, bittersweet three hour bus rides on Tuesday nights, glorious wins, and unforgettable loses. After ten years of playing the same sport, and being captain for three of those, it’s not surprising that soccer has become a huge part of my life that has taught me concepts school never could. Without soccer, I would’ve never experienced the immense impact a group of girls could have on me, especially the season of my senior year. Our team goal was to win the state championships, but along the way something more beautiful happened. We not only became a team, but a family that genuinely believed in each other and our ability to storm Rio Tinto stadium…
