Black Hawk Down, Starts by letting the viewers know “Mohamed Farrah Aidid, The most powerful of the warlords, rules the capital Mogadishu. He seizes international food shipments at the ports. Hunger is his weapon, The world responds. Behind a Force of 20,000 U.S Marines, food is delivered and is restored.”(Opening Credits Of The Movie) This takes place during April 1993 Aidid declares war on the UN peacekeepers. In June Aidid’s militia ambush and kill 24 Pakistani soldiers, and begin targeting Americans. In Late August, elite American soliders, Delta Force, Army Rangers and the 160th SOAR are sent to Mogadishu to remove Aidid and restore order. They were suppose to be there for only 3 weeks but it took longer. Six weeks and they still haven’t

    This is a movie about the Battle of Mogadishu or commonly known as Black Hawk down. It started on the 3rd of October with what was supposed to be a quick “snatch and grab” operation. The operation was only to last thirty minutes. Under the command of Capt. Mike Steele they were to insert soldiers to capture two top lieutenants of a warlord Mohamed Farrrah Aidid. Things went terribly wrong when a black hawk was shot down by an RPG (rocket propelled grenade). It then became a rescue mission to save the soldiers from the crash site. The next thing they knew there were hundreds of Somali gunmen. They were now fighting for their lives. In the process of fighting their way to the crash site another black hawk was shot down. Now Rangers and Delta Force were fighting their way to two crash sites. In the process they secure the first crash site and are blocked in almost every direction. At a certain point in time two Delta Force snipers volunteered to cover the second crash site until a convoy could help get the downed pilot CW4 Michael Durant and in turn gave their lives defending him. They fought through the night facing thousands of militia, women and children. On the morning of the second day they secured the second crash site while the pilot CW4 Durant was captured. Then was the move to get out of the city alive. A convoy made up of UN and 10th Mountain Div. were to extract the injured soldiers. With not enough room in the vehicles the remaining soldiers had to get out of the city on foot. Running through the city running low on ammunition and energy they made it to the stadium in the UN Safe Zone.…

    Black Hawk was born in 1767 near what is nowadays referred to as Rock Island Illinois; he was born into the Sauk tribe which originated in many parts of the Midwest including areas in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Illinois. At the young age of fifteen he was given the title of warrior after wounding an enemy; shortly after being promoted to these ranks Black Hawk was sent out on war excursions became successful. It was not long after Black Hawk even earned the title, he was now in the position of heading up the parties to attack the enemies, which as well he became successful; these war parties would send out only a few men to attack many with suffering only little casualties. In 1804 the Sauk chiefs ceded all of their land east of the Mississippi river to the American government for an agreed upon $1,000 annuity which Black Hawk and many others did not like very much. They tried to get their land back by making arguments that the chiefs were drunk at the time of the deal, this upset Black Hawk and he refused to leave. By time the War of 1812 Black Hawk had many encounters with the American government were they had been deceived.     In the mountainous Shah-i-Khot region south of the city of Gardez in Eastern Afghanistan, Operation Anaconda took place early March 2002. Operation Anaconda, to this day, stands as the largest reported ground action in the Afghan war. This 17-day battle led to eight U.S. casualties and over 50 wounded.
