In Essential VIII, a family nurse practitioner applies and incorporates client centered, culturally appropriate concepts in the planning, delivery, management and evaluation of evidence-based clinical prevention and population care to individuals and families. Health promotion and disease prevention is an expected role of Nurse Practitioners (NP). This study is an example of NPs role in health promotion and disease prevention. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a leading cause of mortality and place a significant financial burden on healthcare system. The modifiable risk of CVD, such as smoking, diet and exercise make it as a preventable disease.
