Failure To Success
Failure to Success

Many people have been unsuccessful at their work at first but they have tried over and over again to better themselves rather than just quitting.
There are many celebrities today that at first were not getting work but then finally got that one hit song that raised them to the top. Katy Perry is a good example of this. Many celebrities or artist change their names and in this case Katy Perry’s real name is actually Katheryn Hudson.
Katy Perry tried to pursue a career in gospel music as a teen and her first album was put out in 2001 but it did not get as much attention as her music does now. She wanted more so where do you go when you want to be a big star? You go to Los Angeles. Many of her record deals fell through and as a teenager, how could one not get frustrated and want to quit. I would have thought maybe this isn’t the profession for me and that I was meant to do something else but Katy Perry kept on.
Katy’s parents were both ministers and they were very strict on everything that she did. In an interview she said, “ I come from a very non-accepting family, but I’m very accepting.” Perry’s parents have learned to try not to change their care free and wild child.
Perry didn’t get her big break until 2008 when her single “ I KISSED A GIRL” came out. It seems that sometimes you must change your image to reach stardom and that is exactly what Katy did when she promoted herself as a sex kitten.
Imagine coming from a strict home of two ministers where your music had to be snuck to you from friends because music was bad and all that should be done was read the Bible and then coming out with a hit song “I kissed a girl”.
Perry did not see success right away but eventually she did and it has opened her mind to a whole different realm of the world, from a conservative child to now a top pop star. She has sold out tours and people love to hear her music and watch her perform, her dream has come true!

Katy Perry is a singer and songwriter of pop-rock music. Katy Perry portrays her love for modern pop-rock music and performance by presenting it in such ways like in Wide Awake. Katy Perry performed a live music performance at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards. The music video kept many of the same features such as the clouds, the shooting star, and the spaceship. Katy Perry’s story in her performance was similar to The Smashing Pumpkin’s music video because in Tonight, Tonight there are two people on an adventure into space and in The Wide Awake performance Katy Perry and a man are together on an adventure as well. However, Katy Perry seems to be in a dream having an adventure. She kept a similar interest about taking an adventure with a significant other and transitioned it in her own art style, which is more of a modern look. There were many of the same set features such as the spaceship, and the shooting star that The Smashing Pumpkins used, and George Melies originally had. The spaceship appears in the beginning of the performance and then the shooting star is towards the middle of the performance and those clearly have a meaning of when the spaceship and the shooting star are placed in the performance. Katy Perry used her performance to represent an adventure with someone, which was echoed from The Smashing Pumpkins. She was able to transcend her art of music into a live performance…

She was very talented and successful but the amount of stress was proportional to the demand. It just all went to show that no how matter successful one wanted to be or can be, it can be taken away much easier than they can imagine. Whitney was never one to take anything for granted, and she wasn’t the one to flaunt what she had. She didn’t want to play the role that everyone looked to for guidance. Her mentor would always tell her what to do, what to wear, how to act in public, and she just couldn’t handle it any longer. At heart she was a partier and she would not live that down. Even with her fame it became more prevalent because she could afford anything she wanted. She hung around with people who did the same things as her and only encouraged her to do it more. With fame and fortunate comes an emotional and physical toll on the body of the person, especially if they weren’t prepared for all the responsibilities. Unfortunately, sometimes people are too naïve and get caught in with the wrong crowd and habits. In rarer cases, those people are idols such as Whitney Houston and send a nationwide heartbreak across to…
