The Importance of Failure The experience of failure is the most important ingredient of maturity and character development. Everyone has or will experience some sort of a failure during their lifetime, such as a failure of a friendship, relationship; or career. The greatest aspect of failures is gaining experiences and learning lessons from them, which helps to avoid making mistakes and increase the potential growth of character. Growth is an important phase of character development because it improves and develops a positive mindset and success. As a young adult, having the experience of ending a decade worth of friendship and almost failing a graduating course requirement, Pre-Calculus, was the greatest experience of my life because I was …show more content…
This helps to have a positive mindset and leads to the path of success. In addition, having the ability to set life achievement goals and strategies to achieve those goals. Without failure, there is no motivation of self-improvement or have the ability of character growth. The beauty of failure is that it leads to the path of success. In the reading, Shitty First Drafts by Anne Lamott, the author states how she attempts numerous of failures when it comes to her writings. For instance, she writes multiple drafts and outlines before reaching her final masterpiece of her writing, which relates to the growth of failure. (Lamott). From her failing attempts, she is able to know what to improve on and how to adjust her strategies for her upcoming writings. Sometimes, life can lead people onto difficult roads where mistakes and failures are frequently made. Failure is a part of human growth, which helps to conduct self-improvement. Experiencing failures is all about learning lessons and gaining experiences, knowledge, and wisdom. In addition, learning what to avoid in future tasks.
