Human Resource- Failed Communication

Everyone hopes can have a nice work environment that includes work place, company culture and coworker relationship, etc. Those elements impact not only employee’s performance but also employee’s motivation of work. Therefore, the coworker relationship is one of important part. When we work, we hope we can have a nice relationship no matter with coworker or boss. If we have a nice coworker relationship, we can have more great teamwork, good influence and nice work atmosphere. However, if one of coworker is not enough discipline or too close with boss, this coworker will destroy the atmosphere of teamwork even the performance of whole project. As a manager should more notice that distance with each subordinate and employee should understand what you should do when you are working.

I was working a part time sale in a sport wear retail store when I studied university in Taiwan. The store was opened beside a night market, so the opening hour of the store was from noon until midnight. There was one store manager, three full time sales and a part time sale in the store. Because one of full time and store manager were good friend, they made a whole store always had nice and fun atmosphere. But sometimes, this relationship also made other employees more upset about work and bad performance, especially they had quarrel no matter the cause of the quarrel was about the private affair or company issue. In addition, the full time will use this relationship to break some rules of company, such as be late, smoking in the warehouse and sleeping during work. After a period of time, other employees begun to learn these inappropriate behaviors from the full time sales, but the store manager did not say something to stop these employees.

Because in that time, he didn’t stop his friend in the beginning and this full time sales used this relationship naturally to create a right by himself.

All employees are made to feel like members of a family sharing in “the Nordstrom way”. Company has been able to create an environment where promotions are only from within the company, where employees keep a journal of customers to send thank you letters and upcoming promotions. Employees perform all operations relevant to their jobs, even unpacking items, shelving and storage responsibilities. The astonishing thing is that all these tasks are performed on off the clock. Nordstrom has been able to create an environment where employees are pushing themselves to limits. Doing chores during their lunch time or after the clock has been a Nordstrom culture for a while. Managing a team’s relationship takes a lot of dedication and hard work. It is very important to have a good relationship because you can better understand each other and get a lot accomplished as a team. The two most unhelpful behaviors are being disruptive: making inappropriate jokes or remarks and complaining and criticizing. When working on a very important project as team for someone to be making inappropriate jokes or remarks is very rude and disrespectful, because it interferes with work and when working on a work assignment everyone needs to be focused with a clear mind. I also feel that when you are working you should take it serious and question all questions so incase there is something missing or a mistake being made on the project…
