Fahrenheit 451 Unit 2 Creative Writing
Darkness surrounds Lydia, her body is trembling, and she feels weak. Her head is spinning, while her stomach churns. She has had her suspicions, woman’s intuition you might say. Her fears became reality when the truth surfaces, her husband is being unfaithful. She is shaking, even though it is an unusually warm January day. Shaking, not because she’s cold. The color has drained from her body and she feels ill. There is a giant hole in her heart, and the pain is unbelievable. The truth came out in a big way, there is no way she can deny it any longer. She sits in the corner of the dark room waiting for him to arrive home from work. What is she going to say to him, how is she going to confront him? The proof is in her hands, on an envelope in black and white. Why didn’t she see this coming, what is she blind. Wait, she did see it, she just didn’t want to see it. Does that make any …show more content…
Usually she did too, but not today, today she just wishes she could hide. Tears roll down her face as she hears the door shut and footsteps come closer to the bedroom, their bedroom. The light suddenly flicks on and he sees her in the corner, instantly he knows there is something wrong. She is not sure how, but she found the words to say, “I got the mail today,” and at that moment she handed him the envelope. His face drops down as he realizes that the affair has surfaced. He seems a little relived that he does not have to hide any longer, yet at the same time he feels sadden that she knows. Lydia did not give him a chance to explain, she really did not want to hear any excuses. Not that he would have them anyway. She is not sure where it came from, but she is able to say one more thing, “Get out!” He grabs an empty laundry basket and begins to throw some clothes inside, there are no words from either of them. She watches in horror as her whole world crashes and crumbles all

"Then the mask said, 'I wasn't fair to your father. I shouldn't have married him...Such a ridiculous-waste of years...For us all'" (Carr 142). After constantly avoiding her real feelings, Geneva finally admits the truth of who she loved. She finally lifted a burden that had been haunting and weighing her down for years. Although she had a completely different experience, Saranell endured the exact same feeling. "She gazed up at it, and the aloneness of the dark hills merging with the dark sky began to crush her. Tears ran from the corners of her eyes. The stars swam and dissolved. And in a moment she was sobbing. For her mother. For herself. For the awkward balm-of-Gilead trees...and for the smell of books in her father's library" (Carr 155). All of the experiences and the pain of what she has gone through finally caught up with Saranell. She finally embraced what had happened in her life and accepted what was real. It doesn't matter how long takes, the truth of reality will always shine through.…

The sunlight caught against the strands of hair rolling like a golden waterfall down Daisy’s back. "Sweetie…” he trailed off in a sigh. “I want to believe it’s beautiful…like you, but you’re far more elegant.” John warmly rubbed her spine, calming her still shivering fear with little success. The soft silk of her nightgown rolled over his fingertips in a deathly chill. “What happened in your dream, princess? Was it the scary man again?” Daisy nodded, breaths but gentle wisps of strangled air. “I died.” Although dreadful as it was, his daughter’s night terror brought a wan smile to his lips, though it rapidly faded. “Nothing more than a dream, sweetheart.” He brushed her hair, circumnavigating his fingers around her face to cup her chin with a soothing grace. “I had a dream when I was your age, a terror that really persisted-” She looked at him inquisitively, to which he explained, “Ongoing, continuous, never-ending…” Daisy nodded in understanding and he continued. “My grandmother, your great granny Agatha, used to tell me that the best way to deal with night terrors was to bear the pain.” John searched Daisy’s deep blue eyes for a hint of understanding. “You see sweetheart, they’re only nightmares when you’re…

He ignored the fact and proceeded to play. A few moments later, the women dropped to her knees as if she had been struck by something. She was not simply drifting off to sleep though. “No”, she whispered as she yanked the disgustingly red cloth from her face with one pull. “No!” She heaved frantically and turned to the room of shocked faces surrounding her. She looked from the dangerously contained anger in her father’s face to the sorrowful pity in her mother’s face.…

At that moment I had the impulsion to tell him everything happened tonight, but I still kept it to myself eventually. “ I thought so; I told Daisy I thought so. It’s better that the shock should all come at once. She stood it pretty well.” I was kind of surprised by my attitude. I was talking about a dead woman who had been killed by Daisy and all I care is Daisy’s reaction. Since when did I become so cold-blooded? To distract him from my reaction, I continued:” I got to West Egg by a side road and left the car in my garage. I don’t think anybody saw us, but of course I can’t be sure.” I tried my best to put on a cheerful smile and tell him everything will be ok. He’s astonished by my indifferent attitude. “ Ok, man, I really don’t think you understand how severe this car accident was and I hate to tell you that you are absolutely wrong,” he skillfully hid his disgusted face and went on,” her name was Wilson. Her husband owns the garage. Now let’s be honest, it was you or Daisy driving that damn devil car?”…

Just right after she went out of the motel, the noise coming from the different kinds of vehicles never escaped her ears. The lights of the city, all the people who are passing by at her, talking, judging her, saying mean things about her, she noticed every single one of them. But she didn’t say anything. It’s all true. Yea, she was a whore. Her body was used by men to satisfy their sexual pleasures, every day and night. She just looked back to see her reflection on the glass door. This anger causes her to cut her family off. Cecilia’s initial anger is justified because her family has read her private letter to Robbie. She notices, “the letter … exposed on her mother’s lap, and Cecilia was on her feet, then moving toward them... ‘How dare you! How dare you all!’... ‘It belongs to me… You have absolutely no right!’” (167). The letter is a piece of evidence that becomes incredibly important to establishing Robbie as a rapist. The letter contained a recollection of Cecilia and Robbie’s passionate romance in the library earlier that evening. She is hurt that her family violated her privacy and used something personal against her to imprison the man she loves. Her mother tells her she should have come to her sooner with this information to avoid the rape in the first place. Instead of comforting her distressed daughter, Cecilia’s mother blames Cecilia for her niece’s rape. This lack of sympathy causes Cecilia to lash out and cut her family out of her life. Briony, the one who gave her mother the letter, manipulates this situation to boost her own ego. Briony believes her actions put a dangerous man in jail. Cecilia realizes this and decides to shut her family out from her life. Even years later, she tells her sister, “‘Don’t worry about that… I won’t ever forgive you’” (318). Despite Briony’s attempt to apologize and move past this…
