Fahrenheit 451: A Dystopian Society

Imagine a world where books where illegal and if someone gets caught with them the books would be set on fire. The most common theme found in the novel Fahrenheit 451 is the idea of censorship. In this dystopian society Montag, the protagonist in the story if a fireman, not like one we would think of today someone that puts out fires. Montag’s job is to start them; firemen in this society are to start fires to houses that contain books in them. But If the same laws applied in our society there would be no houses or buildings however, censorship does manifests itself somewhat today through technology, media, and makes everyone mindless and ignorant. The banning of books creates a dystopian society, people may look happy because of all the things around them the fast cars, games, television etc. Often many people are moving so fast they don’t have time to slow down for a second and think. And the government made it that way in their society so they don’t have time to think and have their own thoughts and opinions. The government knows that reading provokes thinking and creating your own opinions about the world around us.
