Bullying can happen when people, post negative comments on pictures, post abusive posts on a user's wall, use pictures or videos to make fun of another person, or when use social media to stalk. It can happen on Facebook, Twitter, Whats app, Snapchat, and Instagram. The effect of social media bullying is often more dangerous than physical bullying, especially at the beginning. However, if parents do not watch their children, the end result can be tragic. The bullying in social media has caused the instances of teen suicide to rise dramatically. This is because many teens do not have the emotional capacity to deal with bullying, and it may lead to dangerous things, like skipping school, or using alcohol or drugs. And take a legal action if these activities get out of hand. But unfortunately, sometimes bullying will not stop. Social theorists have long questioned the ability of mass media, as consumption and a commercial enterprise, to contribute to deliberative democratic processes (Rohlinger, 122). Through Social Medias, people can see personal information that is provided by an individual. Often times, children do not understand the dangers of listing their age, school or posting pictures of themselves in a school or team uniform. “Home alone! I love this! And the ‘rents won’t be back ‘till 6!!!” You may think that a post like this on a social networking site should not be harmful at all. After all, you’re just letting your friends know what you’re up to! However, online stalkers and pedophiles may use this seemingly benign piece of information for more malicious ends. According to a 2007 Pew Internet Research Report, over half (55 percent) of teens now use online social networking sites. (Lenhart, Purcell, Smith & Zickuhr)[1] The latter have diminished one-on-one interactions and have simultaneously provided an easy, impersonal way to harass people without any apparent immediate consequences. It is true that social networks such as Facebook and Twitter enable friends to keep in touch and can be used to “document school research, promote artistic talents and experiment with other forms of content creation.” (Hall)[2] However, along with these benefits come some serious risks: especially since these sites are extremely addicting. The excessive use of social networks, especially by teens, has brought upon severe effects on society that should not be taken lightly: cyber-stalking, poor interpersonal relationships,…
