FFA Scholarship Essay
Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Education has always been extraordinarily important to me, and for this reason, I believe I am qualified to receive this scholarship. Even from a young age, I took it upon myself to strive for the best, participating in spelling bees since the fourth grade, maintaining a 4.0 grade point average throughout middle school, and immersing myself entirely in academics during my high school career. Throughout school, I had two predominant goals that I continuously strived for: to graduate with a 4.0 grade point average and to be accepted into the college of my dreams. I accomplished both, becoming a senior scholar in my graduating class …show more content…
I have taken on many leadership roles in the past, serving as an officer of my high school’s FFA chapter as well as a high school class officer and student council officer. More recently, I have served as the secretary of St. John Paul II Catholic Ministries at SVSU, as well as the Vice President of Service for Alpha Phi Omega. As an executive board member for our Catholic ministry, I send out weekly newsletters highlighting all upcoming events. I also work with the officer team to coordinate with priests, plan social gatherings, and ensure that all members of the SVSU community are up to date on our events. As an officer for Alpha Phi Omega, I plan and coordinate all community service events for the campus, fraternity, community, and nation. I ensure that we have at least one service event planned each week, contacting and collaborating with numerous community organizations to do so. I plan large chapter events such as our annual Red Cross blood drive and our spring Youth Service Day project, as well as smaller projects such as bingo with the local nursing home. It brings me great joy to be able to share my love for service and my love for the Lord with my fellow students. I take great pride in knowing that my teams and I have such an impact on the campus community through our dedication to these organizations, and I look forward to continuing to serve my community in this way while developing leadership abilities for my future nursing

We also learn leadership skills by running meetings, planning projects and more so. It provides its members with opportunities to provide service, build character and develop leadership. One thing that impacted me from doing community work was the Eliminate Project which is a campaign to raise $110 million to eliminate…

When I first started my high school career, my sister tried to push me into joining Future Farmers of America (FFA). I ignored her like I usually do, and I did not even think about joining FFA. Like any typical high school freshman, I did not want to join anything because I was worried I could not commit to it. Later on that year I decided to join FFA; that was the best decision of my life. I never thought a single organization could engage and excite me so much. I pushed myself after that year and joined the Indiana FFA State Band. I played my heart out and became the President of the Indiana FFA State Band at the end of my senior year.…

In December of 2014, my church was in need of a leader of worship for the Sunday morning services. Since my father is the senior pastor of the church, and I have a gift in music, I was given the position. At first, they gave me this with the intentions of it being short term, but as I matured and gained the respect of the people in the congregation, it has become more permanent. At first it was tough to manage the time between organizing rehearsals and everything else involved in being the worship leader, as well as school, but it has become much easier to manage over time. Aside from leadership in my church, I lead the chapel worship team at my school, am president of our honor choir, and organize the National Honors Society’s trips to our local Alzheimer’s center.…

In order to so, I must persevere to be one of the best in my future class and job. A long term goal for me is to create a non-profit organization that helps those who need it the most. It could support higher education, help prevent domestic violence, animal abuse, or even help fund research for cancer. The possibilities are endless if I thrive in my education and apply what I've learned to the real world. After all, the importance of earning a college education is also to help others achieve their dreams and overcome their obstacles. If I am elected to receive this scholarship you would be giving me an opportunity to learn at one of the business schools in Texas. I can assure you that I would find a way to give back to my community like the way you help students like…

I have partaken in TI@ti, sophomore year and currently, which is an organization based on increasing leaderships skills and increasing awareness against drugs and alcohol. Last year, I guided peers to make healthier life choices and to take positive risks. I stepped up when my advisors, Ms. Ramirez and Mr. Rosenfeld (at the time) needed presenters for the PTSO meetings, Saturday Academy for 7th and 8th graders, and for 600+ seniors who attended prom last school year. The Saturday Academy was a huge leadership role where I had to advise seventh and eighth graders on what to expect from high school. I volunteer at various locations such as for the 9/11 Day of Service, Jersey Cares Day, and Paterson’s Operation clean up. In all of these services, I did landscaping because I felt as if the…
