Programme plan

I am doing a programme plan for FETAC level 5 in Child Development and play.

Programme Title: Child Development and Play.

Overall Aims: To provide the learner with theory and practice of child development and organize play activities to promote child development.

Objective: Explain the key stages of child development
Introduction to the theory and practice of child development
Plan and organise activities to promote child development
Use observations to compare against normative milestone Development.

Learning Outcomes: To show knowledge and understanding of child development including, Physical, Intellectual, Language, Emotional, and Social Development.
Illustrate a range of theories in child development and leaning.

When doing an evaluation it is important to evaluate 3 areas:
• Learners – Did learning occur? Was the learning outcomes achieved?
• Organisation – Did you meet their needs?
• Myself as a trainer – Where did I do well? How can I improve?

When designing an appropriate evaluation tool I will use Donal Kirkpatrick four levels of evaluations:
1. Reaction – How trainers react to training.
2. Learning – The knowledge, skills, and attitudes trainees gain from the training.
3. Behaviour – How the learning is applied on the job.
4. The impact the training has on the organisation.

It is important to continually evaluate as we are always learning. Please find attached a copy of my evaluation tool I would use on completion of my training session. Conclusion
This course has provided me with the essential knowledge and skills to become a trainer. I now have a good understanding of how adults learn and how we all have different styles of learning some like to record and research, others like to be hands on and learn through doing things for themselves. After researching David Kolb’s learning theory and how the learning involves four styles that must be present for learning to occur.     In this assignment I plan to explain how play helps to improve the development of children and young people. Play is extremely important for the development of children. It is important that from a young age children play with things like toys and even with other children. Between the ages of 0 – 3 is when children develop the most. Through play children can improve their fine and gross motor skills by using toys such as shape sorters and using musical tables which have buttons and things to turn. This helps to develop fine motor skills. Gross motor skills are developed through crawling and learning to walk. If children have toys that are spread out whilst playing then it will encourage them to either crawl or try to walk to retrieve the toys that they want to play with. It is important that also at this age that children start to use cutlery, for example being given a spoon as a baby so that they can learn to feed themselves, and this also helps to develop their fine motor skills. Also playing with toys such as shape sorters can also help with intellectual development as children begin to become more aware of which shape is which, They may not know what they are called but they begin to recognise a pattern in the shapes and which hole they need to sort them into. Also this is a good toy to use as parents can praise their child and this will improve their self-esteem. It is also important at this age for children to play with other children as this will teach them to share and also they will learn to manage their own feelings as parents cannot always be there to remind children to share so the child will have to figure it out on their own sometimes in situations such as play groups.
